Fire Pro Wrestling 20th Anniversary Collection

Post by Elwood »

Okay, I don't know how many people on the board are fans of the Fire Pro Wrestling series of games, but I figured I'd clue you guys in regardless. Basically, through contact with Grasshopper Production (Suda 51's group), the guys running the Fire Pro Club message board were given exclusive news about two brand new entries to the series, due out soon.

One is for the XBLA and PSN (I posted about it on the Sony/Microsoft subforum), but here I'm talking about...

Fire Pro: 20th Anniversary Collection! for the Nintendo Wii.

Here's the post on the FPC about the game:
http://www.fireproclub.com/forum/viewto ... 35&t=20606

What we have here is a compilation of previous Fire Pro games (the various entries on the Super Nintendo and Turbo Graphx), with a total of 10 old school wrestling games. They'll be slightly updated, but will mostly be faithful ports of the originals.

Also interesting is that it'll include a new game called Blazing Tornado REDUX, a remake/sequel of the Blazing Tornado arcade/Saturn game that took a more arcadey and over the top take on the Fire Pro series.

There's also a bunch of unlockable interviews, concept art and other things that you get by completing goals in the games.

Sadly, there's not likely to be a US release, and no release date set for this yet. Still, if your a fan of Fire Pro or old school wrestling titles you should look into this.

Check out the 'Firepro HD/Firepro Collection' section of the board for further discussion and information on the game if you like.
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

To quote the site:
PC Engine / TG-16
Fire Pro Wrestling Combination Tag
Fire Pro Wrestling Second Bout
Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Legend Bout

Super Famicom / Super Nintendo
Super Fire Pro Wrestling
Super Fire Pro Wrestling 2
Super Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Final Bout
Super Fire Pro Wrestling SPECIAL
Super Fire Pro Wrestling Queen’s Special
Super Fire Pro Wrestling X
Super Fire Pro Wrestling X PREMIUM

I am quite happy about X Premium on the list, but I was hoping for a new Fire Pro, or a port of FPR, with 8 player on the Wii - comeon its got the sockets for it out of the box.

Now the only problem is that it is not out yet...Time to start looking for a second Wii.

Fire Pro has been a favorite of mine since the Saturn, and Fire Pro Returns is always in my PS2. I would also love to see King of the Collisium ported over to the states.

I would also like to see the engine for Giant Gram 2000 used in new wrestling games.

and no wrestling game thread is complete without saying two words

Ok I admit, I was just looking for an excuse to post the video.

While it's true it's sorta disappointing that the Wii isn't getting something comparable to Fire Pro Wresting HD (which you'll find a thread for in the Sony/Microsoft forum), the collection still looks pretty impressive, AND in does come with a new game of sorts, Blazing Tornado REDUX.

It's an update/sequel/whatever of the arcade spin off of the Fire Pro series.

The original in action:

Thats true, and while I may only rarely have more than 4 people playing, 8 player is always a nice option. Ohwell, it wont stop me from buying it. Now if we could only get Spike to combine FPR and Kinnikuman/Ultimate Muscle I would never have to buy another wrestling game ever again.

Whoa this will be rad. Is there any chance of a US release?

Not likely I'm afraid. There's nothing confirmed, but it's been said that the chances of a US release are slim, which is unfortunate since the Twilight Hack that people have been using to get past the region lock has been disable with the new Wii Firmware update. Hopefully a new workaround will be found soon.

I can't blame them, even at a bargain price Fire Pro Wrestling Returns sold poorly over here.

Well hate to be the bearer of bad new, but it has been confirmed that Firepro HD & Firepro Collection were both nothing but an April Fools day joke posted on Fireproclub.com, the hoax then started to spread.

In reality the reson the OP gave for pulling it, was to prove that 1) There is a demand for it 2) What gamers would want in a new FP.

The truth is Spike has no intentions of ever making another Firepro game, FPZ was going to be the last one, but failed to live up to expectations, so Firepro Returns was meant to do one of two things

1- Bring the series back

or

2- Finish the series for good

The decision was made by sales, and sales stunk. It is a shame most people flock to SD vs RAW (granted they have improved) and never gave FPR a chance (it was only $20!) The gameplay and depth blow almost every other wrestling game on the market.
