I dont care much for Madden. I miss the old Sega 2K NFL games. They had a certain charm that Madden lacks

NFl 2k5 IMO still the best NFL sim game. We just need more NFL games in general as competition is good.

I hated all the 2K games of any sport except NFL2k5//it was a impulse purchase since it was only $20 in 2004. It was so ahead of it's time that in many ways Madden has yet to catch up to. Still has the best presentation of any Football sim. It still plays really well.No NFL sim is better than this. EA is pretty complacent with Madden so yes competition is good. We should return back to the era where every sport had a bunch of options on the shelf bad or good. Even good things can come form awful things. XFL gave us mic'd player, locker room cameras. On field cameras and biggest of all, Skycam. Playing Madden 17 outside of better visuals...not much has changed last several years. I can still exploit the game all the same. Also note I'm not counting games like Blitz since it's not a sim. Tho I love those games and miss them. Mutant League Football was neat but not great. NFL QB club I liked but they were pretty meh. Gameday was pretty crap. 2D NFL games are just bleh anymore and sorry but Tecmo Bowl isn't sim and also hasn't aged well.

A friend of mine is often shocked when I say "SotN is one of the worst Metroidvania games," but that's not because it's a bad game, but because its competition is so seriously good it can't make it up there. Circle of the Moon is the only one I'd even think of calling a "bad" game, but even then I think it's mostly just an 'okay' game that some can enjoy and some can't (more like 6/10 territory).
You weren't kidding about how you rank both CoTM and SoTN lowly haha. But I'm shocked you put Harmony above them! That one seemed like the laziest one by far to me, not to mention the bright colored sprites were odd/ugly, and the music isn't very good at all (guess they literally wanted to channel that "dissonance"?) ... this is the one I don't think I'll care to ever replay again. But even then like you're saying, I'd probably give it a very fair 6/10 myself. So it's not bad, just averagely par for the course.
Did they ever put the DS Castlevania's on the Wii U VC? I've been crossing my fingers for that to replay them that way...
I REALLY liked the controls and boss fights in HoD. Being able to both back AND forward dash was so cool, and I thought the game had a really good difficulty curve outside of that (sans the crazy fuckin' hard final boss and the stupidly easy final final boss). I'll say I can't really remember any of the music in it, but I generally play games like that on silent because I'm at school and using my SP, so I can't use headphones even if I wanted to

Also, on the subject on the Wii U eshop, it seems that only Nintendo ever bothered to port any games to the DS section. All the other Nintendo Casltevanias are on there (GBA, SNES, NES) though, so it's nice that the GBA ones are on there. Those buggers are proper tough to find :/

And I have to say, I really love how different each of the GBA titles are. One of the things I don't like about Dawn of Sorrow is how similar it is to Aria of Sorrow.

And with annoying stylus gimmicks and the generic anime art. That's why I like Aria more.

Outside of the Tecmo Bowl critique, I 100% agree with you Segata. ESPN football 2k5 is a fantastic game that was filled with a ton of features, engaging gameplay. spectacular commentary and a franchise mode that is unparralelled to this day.
Competition is good in this field.
One thing though that needs to come back though in sports games is.... NHL HITZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But what about Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness?

Love those games. often overlooked but they are great. CoD has the best music of the two. Lament is the most Castlevania of the two but both are good games.
