What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Saw Valerian a few days ago. It was pretty dumb but I went to see cool visuals with some creative ideas and it delivered on that front. It was worth seeing if you just want to take in a sci-fi spectacle. It felt very much like a 90's movie with modern CGI.

It's not surprising how hard it bombed but it's a little sad.

Ack wrote:As for me, no Halloween III this year. Instead I'm watching Halloween 4 and Halloween 5. Why? Because I have a pretty big gap that goes from Halloween 3 to the Rob Zombie remake, with only a stop off at H20. It's a series that for some reason I let slip by the wayside. Time I get back on that.
Same here, but I think H20 was enough for me to be done. I even hated that one and I don't find 2 to be that great either. Halloween lacks the charm of Friday the 13th or or Nightmare on Elm Street and Myers doesn't have any personality over those two villains nor do they have a noteworthy composer that I recall (the whole Friday series has some damn good music).

Wait, looking at my letterboxd list I do have Halloween 4 on there. Guess I 100% already forgot about it! Should be telling.

I actually had fun with Hellraiser 3 (feels like another bad Nightmare in Elm Street installment), and I thought Bloodline was legit. It was like if Jason X was more tolerable and still had some good monster designs and effects I think. It was becoming humorous how Pinhead was becoming more and more like Freddy and a joke killer. I guess some people like 1 the best, but I thought 2 was the coolest by far with that weird otherworld labyrinth stuff and some really cool monsters.

For something super legit have you guys seen Jacob's Ladder? Wish I could find more like that. It's about as Silent Hill as it gets.
Dark Water is based on another Japanese horror film based on the same author's work who wrote The Ring.

Also, you like Jacob's Ladder? Watch Session 9. Videodrome would probably interest you as well.

Also, Dark Water is not good.

I also have a stack of random horror waiting for me. In addition to the Peter Cushing / Christopher Lee horror anthology I picked up the other day, I have movies like Audition, Annabelle, Cloverfield, Evil Dead (2013), Christmas Evil, Dark Places (1973), Unfriended, The Strangers, and other completely random horror movies.

Got Videodrome covered but yeah Session 9 looks promising.

Guess I'll remove Dark Water. Kind of a shame Amazon Prime's movie listing is horrible.

Have you seen The Blackcoat's Daughter and The Neon Demon? Both were streaming on Amazon, and both are awesome. I think that The Bay is on there too...

Blackcoat's Daughter is on my list (Emma Roberts <3) and Neon Demon was really great.

I don't know if it's like horror horror, but if anyone wants a movie that is legit scary, Nocturnal Animals is something to consider.

Dark Water did suck.

Take the story Star Wars, set it back in Japan, add more elements from Samurai films and Japanese mythology and shift the story to kinda be about Han Solo. Then change Storm Troopers into Mechanical Ninjas, the Deathstar into a Walking Castle, and add a Cyber Ninja that is pretty much Luke. Best $10 movie I have ever seen. NAMCOs best movie. Sadly the only available copies are VHS quality. The standalone dvd is stupid expensive, but this set has it:

Is full of great Raizo Ichikawa films
I had that collection but it got ruined in the flood from the hurricane last year.

Rewatched this a while ago. Someone recently posted a concept for an all-African-American version of Hocus Pocus that I would LOVE to see. The concept's set in New Orleans.

He did! Man, Shout! Factory should TOTALLY release this, alongside his other films, such as:

* Kamen Rider ZO and J, in a double feature set
* the Zeiram duology, also in a double feature set
* Hakaider
* Shin Kamen Rider, though maybe as part of the ZO/J set, with Kamen Rider World included.
