What are the most musically ambitious 8-bit game songs?

Virtual Boy audio is weirdly similar to PC Engine audio, but in many ways more limited and lesser quality.

Code Name: Viper has some pretty memorable music for an nes game. If you haven't checked it out, then you really should. Its a pretty awesome game that holds up well even today.
The Cruxis Sword is sooo awesome.
