:P : Work is crazy. I hardly have any time with my family thanks to my new schedule and management just blows :P.

I do the work of probably 4-5 people not because we are understaffed but because 90% of the staff aren't worth a damn. Everyone is either talking on their phones(Phones are "prohibited" outside of break areas) or talking with their friends and stopping every 2-3 minutes to chat. This wouldn't be horrible if we didn't have 20+ tractor trailers full of mixed mail and packages to sort out and get dispatched to the proper areas in the facility :P.

Proper management could easily solve this issue but management sucks. Supervisors are rarely where they need to be and half the time you have to hunt when down if you need one. When they are there they are just as bad for talking on their phone or chatting with people completely ignoring the crew they are supposed to be supervising. To top that off my tour keeps getting a new lead supervisor every other month and the last two have had no clue what they are doing and since I'm one of the few people who really seems to care about my job they usually latch onto me and I literally end up training my own supervisor  . Honestly I don't mind it but they kind of use of me as a crutch and if someone gets lazy and things get backed up or messed up in an area I get pulled over to fix it and get things caught up which is really hard to do.

All the jobs are insanely easy as long as you don't let things get backed up but over half the people in the facility couldn't make the cut flipping burgers at McDonald's so there are constant issues every night. It's bad enough that there are certain people that honestly are more of a hindrance then help when they get sent to work with me  .

I've also been moved to a 5pm-1:30am tour so I hardly see my mom or brother anymore which sucks we are currently living together but I see them basically only on my days off :P.

You're looking at it the wrong way. Why are you working so hard compared to everyone else who is keeping their job?

I agree with Popo. Also, it's nice to hear from you Fragems, and I hope that your hard work qualifies you for a promotion soon (even if your post does not give me a lot of faith in the USPS...).

Because I take pride in my work. It just kind of pisses me off to see how piss poor the average persons work ethic has become.

Really I like being the go to person in a situation but just miss management and bad hiring practices piss me off to no end. A big issue is as you pointed out why work so hard :P. The reason the work ethic is so bad is management doesn't give a shit as long as the job gets done. All that you get for finishing a job early is the possibility of getting sent home at 6 hours as opposed to your full 8.

Also thanks to the hiring practices there are "casual" employees that have been there for years that are making less then me but have a ton of experience they can't get promoted however because they aren't good at the idiotic multiple choice test that the USPS almost solely relies on for hiring :P. Which really feels like a ploy to me to keep the employees as casuals solely to save money  .

There is also the issue of lunches and breaks. There is no set time for breaks when working 8 hours you get two fifteen minute breaks and one 30 minute lunch. You are supposed to wait till after your first two hours to take your first break and then take your lunch after the four hour mark. However since they aren't regulated or monitored really you have people who just disappear all the time and there are many people who take more breaks then they are allotted or who stretch a 15 minute break into a 20+ minute one :P. There are also multiple couples who like to take lunches at the same time so there are situations where you'll have a group of 4-5 people working and suddenly your work force is cut in half for 30+ minutes :P. Really it's just a big mess :P.

In the next 3-6 months I'll probably be in a "full time" position with benefits. Think I'm no. 5 on the seniority list at the moment :P. Alot faster then the 10+ years it was going to take as a carrier  .

Systems based on seniority alone are terrible, and it probably explains you coworkers' lack of effort...

That said...Congrats! I hope that you get the position soon.

I would say to continue to take pride in your work. Not worth picking up bad habits, plus that work ethic should assist you in any other job you take as well.

 Chester Bennington of Linkin Park just died! I've been a fan of LP since 2004. Linkin Park was the first band I liked that played real music AND made albums where I could listen to every track and not just the singles.

I was devastated, too. Minutes to Midnight is where they kind of lost me, but Hybrid Theory and Meteora got me through middle school.

Some annoying little twats stole my credit card number and tried to use it to buy over $200 of... Edible Arrangements..... twice :?

I'm assuming they got it from that Gamestop breach a while ago. But clearly the thieves didn't know what site they got it from. If they'd known to spend the money on video games, the credit card company would have been none the wiser. I guess they just really needed a bouquet of tastefully arranged fruit.

In other news, I won't be buying anything online for the next 10-14 days
