So hero mode is up and I started to play for just a few minutes. Starts off with all the red bokoblins replaces with blue, archers use fire arrows and there are floating platforms everywhere.
There are more chests and better gear, but the initial difficulty is definitely there as you start facing off against green bokoblins with only a tree branch to fight.
I feel like it will get a lot easier as you progress, but we will see!

And this can be done with a new file right? Will it ask you to start a new, seperate file or will it be automatic? I'd hate to lose my progress.

I haven't started it up yet, but I did read somewhere that you would be able to start a new file.casterofdreams wrote:And this can be done with a new file right? Will it ask you to start a new, seperate file or will it be automatic? I'd hate to lose my progress.

When you select Master mode, it goes to a different menu and a unique save file. You do not lose any progress from your normal save file.casterofdreams wrote:And this can be done with a new file right? Will it ask you to start a new, seperate file or will it be automatic? Also to note, silver lynel spotted in the plateau and it shoots tri-bomb arrows.

Re: Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
I'm several hours into Master Mode now. I have completed the Zora Divine Beast and I am about the head to the Goron's.
Honestly, I found the Great Plateau to be the hardest area so far. Once you start getting some decent weapons and expanded inventory, it becomes a lot easier. Until then you just have to skip as many enemies as you can because your weapons will not hold out. Getting the stealth gear helps immensely as well. Being able to take out a camp of enemies silently while they sleep seems to be the safest way to do it. When I have to take on a lot of enemies at once, I try to knock some off a ledge or cheese them to death by alternating with frost and electric weapons.
A few other observations:
-The divine beast boss that I fought did not seem any more difficult. I don't think they have been changed.
-Most bridges are now guarded by enemies on floating platforms. There is usually a chest or two on the platforms as well. It is pretty easy to take them out by popping their balloons or sneaking up on them for a headshot. If you do pop their balloons, you can usually recover the chests from the river with Cryonis.
-Enemies are more likely to throw their weapons at you because the battles last longer. I've also had several Moblins throw Bokoblins at me. I never experienced that in normal mode but that might be because they did not live long enough
-Rupees are MUCH easier to get because of the increased amount of Silver/White enemies that drop two gems when you kill them.
-If the Master Sword Trials are increased in difficulty, that may be pretty damn hard!

I tried to kill the lynel on the Plateau by dropping a guardian on it, it just made it angrier.

So no Doom II Cyberdemon vs. Spider Mastermind fight?

Would have worked better if you converted the guardian into an ancient arrow first. Helluva hike though.fastbilly1 wrote:I tried to kill the lynel on the Plateau by dropping a guardian on it, it just made it angrier.

you can use a metal plank and magnesis to lift certain dead guardians. They have more ancient parts under them, but dropping/flinging them at enemies is far more fun.
