Last year I really wanted to get back into it but the cost of obtaining the hardware and the game was a major turnoff. I went and emulated it on Dolphin and runs great. Even boosted the resolution to about 3x native and the textures, and game for that matter, are crystal clear!

Have you tried Blue Burst? I did a full single-player campaign last year: episodes I, II, and IV. Took me around 72 hours, if I recall. You can get it as a free download and there are several private servers available.

I have tried Blue Burst a few years ago on one of the more prominent servers. Before I went the emulation route with the GameCube version of the game I tried starting up Blue Burst again by downloading it from that same server but it looked like the server was down permanently and I didn't really feel like looking for something else at the time. This was early last year and I haven't really checked to see if the server ever came back online. What server do you use?

Here is a problem I have with myself and RPGs sometimes. I don't always finish them my first time playing them and come back later. Months later to years later. This is what I did for Digimon Cyber Sleuth. I got way side tracked with Yakuza 0,Nier and a shit load of Shmups. Finishing Persona 5 led me back to the game. The problem is my save file was not early in the game but just past mid game. So some serious story stuff happened when I stopped playing 5 months ago. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. I ask te lady who supposed to tell you and you gives me vague nonsense. I go to every location in the game. I have no idea what to do to advance the game. Turns out I had to sleep on the couch...something I never did or had to do before in this game. Not faulting the game. It's on me but I do frustrate myself sometimes in games.

My suggestion is to have pad or something and everytime you took a longer break from something you write down what the last objective was so you know what you are suppose to do next when you get back playing the game.

Got back playing Golden Sun after one year hiatus and i'm now heading to altimer caves. At this point i'm wondering whether this game just came at the right time because it's not very good. It does look really impressive and there's room to experiment with the djinns but that's pretty much it. Well the soundtrack is also good but i'm way past the halfway point and the story hasn't really gotten anywhere after the intial hours and if theres any dialogue to be had it's always long boring conversations that put me to sleep. Lot of people seem to be fond of the puzzles but in the first game at least the puzzles are most of the time so ridiculously basic that they deserve praise from no one. In a way i actually hate the puzzles because this game has that metroid style of design which means there are optional puzzles that you cant solve until you get the right skill. Using the skills outside of battle can also be finicky and you have to be really precise when using them which doesn't help either.

All in all, it's very basic JRPG and it seems like it's praised simply because it was a large original JRPG on handheld (and probably first JRPG for many) I doubt that at this point the game can do anything to rise from mediocrity.

Golden Sun has always reminded me of Lufia II, in the sense that it's a lot of environmental puzzles thrown in with a fairly good battle system. The Djinn system isn't the most intuitive thing in the world though for getting some of the puzzle powers. It's a good game, but not a great game. I enjoyed my time with it, but there's a reason it took me a few go's to actually get through them (and I've never made it through Dark Dawn). The narrative isn't that interestingly portrayed and it's preeetty slow :?

Been playing more Pokemon Moon. God, I've really got the Pokemon itch atm. I'm ACTUALLY doing the madness of trying to complete the regional Pokedex, which has some REAL fuckin' ball-busters on it in terms of how annoying those Pokemon can be gotten. I'll probably get fed up in the next couple days of it and (maybe) move onto Black 2 which I picked up yesterday. I really love 5th gen, and I've heard good things about it from my other Poke-fiend friend, so I'm kinda excited for it :)

Alright, I started Disgaea 5 Complete last night on my Switch. It's my first Disgaea game. Will it eat me alive, or will I prevail in the end?

I have this feeling myself. Some games do have a thing where it'll keep track of your last known action or keep track of major story points like a TV series where it recaps what happen during the last episode. For the life of me I can't remember what games do it other than the Pokemone Gen 1 remake where it recaps in slide format what you did last. Also Pokemon Gen IV had a journal that pops up when you load a file.

For me, the two Golden Suns were, and still are, great games. I had a lot of fun with both games when they were released. The combat, puzzles, Djinn system, story, music, and graphics were all great for me. The second game had optional bosses that were super tough but was satisfying when I beat them. One thing that I still love are the summons. Man those looked great! I am currently playimg through the second one again after many years.
