Do Playstation jewel cases crack easily?

I'm asking this cuz I recently ordered Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy Anthology (mainly for VI) new from amazon.com. The package game today in a standard bubbler mail envelope. I opened it and saw the two games factory sealed but with fairly large deep cracks on either side of the jewel cases for both games. I was gonna send them back, but I was too curious about the discs' condition themselves. Luckily, discs appear all to be scratch-less--and that's really all I care about anyway. The cases are Greatest Hits release.

So yeah...are these jewel cases that fragile or is the regular bump and grind of shipment enough to cause the cracking in the cases? Thanks in advance. ~jared

Playstation cases are normal CD cases so they can crack easily if not taken care of. Then again, sometimes I have got jewel cases of Playstation games cracked in mail due to shipping, etc.. The jewel cases that are evil are Sega Saturn and Sega CD.. they break even if you take the best care of them..

I buy a lot from amazon and this rarely happens, but it has. Just be weary of the seller in the future... or something. More than likely they could've done a better job with the packaging.

You'd really have to put a lot of pressure on a bubble mailer in order to crack a jewel case inside. Then again, I've received some mangled ass shit from postal carriers, so who knows.

Funny thing was, the games came from amazon.com directly--not any of the marketplace sellers. If they had even just used one of their cardboard boxes to mail the games in.....ah well. C'est la vie n all that.

Honestly, I've had a few bad experiences with amazon.com directly myself. For me, they've pretty much always been incredibly slow, and I do think I may have gotten a cracked case or something like that from them too. I would recommed buyers before them honestly ... lol.

I'd say too many things come to me from Amazon with slight damage. I shrug my shoulders, but it IS bullshit. I ordered a 50 pack of jewel cases before, and only one hinge on one case was broken. On the other hand, I ordered a Wii game once and the spine had a 2 or 3 inch crack in it. I ordered the 4 DVD box sets of the 007 movies, and one or two of the outer boxes had some crush type damage to them. When you're spending that much money on something, it should come in perfect condition.

Don't get me started on New Egg. One of my favorite sites to order from, but they seem to have the most inconsistent packaging. I'll get a box with a blank disc spindle, packed tight with packing peanuts. Then I'll get an OEM hard drive (hard drive in anti static wrap alone, no box) that just has some brown paper in a HUGE box. It must bounce around like a pinball during shipping!

its a cd case. its going to happen. just switch the case out as long as everything else is fine with the original content. send it back wouldnt be worth your time if its just the case.

Yeah they break, it seems like they get more brittle with age too. Luckily it's just a regular cd case, so you can pop the inserts out at put it in a new one if you want.

Yeah... it's just straight up HORRIBLE when it happens to a Sega CD or Saturn case!
