Doesn't seem helpful either to allow more people to enjoy them. It's just a good way to coin the crap out of buying berries to keep trolling the spots in a gym. The big difference being more diversity instead of 4 gyrados or dragonite squatters.
The raid has potential if it doesn't get abused as you can earn something special out of it and it boots all the squatters out when the big egg drops.
I was wondering if they'd ever add the old games TM mechanic in and it appears so which is nice. My concern ends up on seeing how this plays out if it's a just more of the same coining of dumb whales to pay the bills so the same people still retain all the power, or if it makes things interesting for anyone who wants a shot at it.

Re: Pokémon Go
Don't think this will change anything. The players with the best pokemon will still dominate gyms, and now they'll they'll have chances to get even more powerful pokemon thanks to raids.
Meanwhile I'll be stuck with no coins unable to afford incubators and storage space increases as per usual.

Re: Pokémon Go
That's my big concern. I see it at worst, getting even worse for people who want to use gyms outside of them being pokestops now too which is pretty stupid. Raids maybe potentially possible if you're at the right moment at the right time with a ticket by visiting another gym to hold one. Yet those again could be dominated by the heavy coining whale fools who have their LV35-40accounts with 3000+CP squatters in play.
I'd not be surprised if them saying they're special if it's a mix of the non-regional stuff you can't normally get, or where they've been holding back on the legendaries for those raid eggs. That would really tip the scales into scaring more people into paying real money or bailing on the game if you had each gym with a unique wall of 4 legendaries and 2 insane normal types...why bother?

Re: Pokémon Go
The fact that there will only be 6 pokemon slots worries me too. The issue for me here is that my own team dominate gyms so thoroughly that they're always full of the same 10 pokemon, and being my own team, I can't weaken them to replace them. This is basically the same thing only now with less space for me
Re: Pokémon Go
A new article from Niantic will be of help to all of us. I've been following this all day.
What I'm seeing that will be nice -
- Not only getting items from gyms, but more items if your team is controlling it, and it will stack with the current level your gym badge is at for even more items (and the gym stops will have a greater chance at more potions and revives) NOTE: You cannot use Lure Modules on gym stops.
- You can tap your gym badge to get the current "motivation" level of your Pokémon, additionally you can opt-in to push notifications to let you know when your Pokémon leaves the gym! About time!
- You can use any berry to boost your Pokémon's or another team member's motivation. They all increase it the same. Finally, a use for Nanab berries! I'll be hanging on to any new ones I get.
- Raids! Of course!
Your Pokémon may not have returned from gyms yet - Support has said it may be a few hours. Additionally, many Silph Road users are reporting that Pokéstops are being turned into gyms -- more chances to put Pokémon in and that means more possible raid locations!
I'll have more information here as I continue to sniff out the latest news. Stay tuned!

Re: Pokémon Go
Considering they've effectively cut off people's chances of getting into Gyms by 40%, that is welcome news.ExedExes wrote:Pokéstops are being turned into gyms!
So far I've only had one Pokemon returned to me (the others are still out). But he came back at full health, so I know it was the game and not some player trying to get that last minute bonus for the day
Re: Pokémon Go
I wouldn't be surprised if all pokestops became gyms since they'll all now give out supplies.
Re: Pokémon Go
I've spotted 3 areas with additional gyms already (and as far as the gyms are down, more can be added!)
1) - The famous church I stop by w/ 4 regular stops and a gym had one of its stops turned into a gym, but a brand new 4th stop replaced the one we lost. That's now 2 gyms and 4 stops, for 6 areas to get items at! Very nice. Plus, the new one is in a slightly better coverage area for data transmission.
2) - Downtown has added 2 more gyms, both right near already established gyms.
3) - The state park with millions of stops now has a 4th gym.
As long as the gyms are off, be on the lookout.
All of my Pokémon are returned but 3. One of them was "149 Days!" if you remember from the original reign it had from September-February. Now it returns home a true champion, and I'll calculate the days it had from February-June. Otherwise, all my returning Pokémon are fully powered up, that includes all 3 Vaporeons that served me very well. My Gyarados is still on top at just over 2900CP.

Man, 2900CP isn't even enough to get onto most of the gyms near me. They all start from 3000+ExedExes wrote:I've spotted 3 areas with additional gyms already (and as far as the gyms are down, more can be added!)

Same here, 3000 and change up through around 3350-3400 is normal. My best is a Rhydon that is at 2712 and the other decent are 8 of them ranging from a 2387 Snorlax, 2316 Espeon, 2292 Gyarados, my maxed 2267 Charizard, 2231 Golem, 2045 Arcanine, and 1999 on a Cloyster and Houndoom.
That's why I make the comments I do because the gyms are totally setup for coining people with no care what it costs to stay in there, and have a bit too much free time on their hands as well.
It's turned in a way into a digital game of poke-real estate. It's all about the money and location, location, location.
That said the event at least cracked a few more off my list. Houndoom was the last, Jynx, Lapras, Cloyster, Piloswine, Mareep (1 and only), and Swinub. I'm at Caught 203 and Seen 212 out of 248 total. So it's starting to get pretty boring again due to little diversity in my area outside of eventing.
Currently missing 36(seen), 68(seen), 83, 89(seen), 101, 106, 107, 115, 122, 137, 144, 145,146, 149(seen), 150, 151 out of the original generation still a year into it which I personally think is disgraceful outside of the regional khangaskhan.
