So...did anybody watch the Sessions hearing? I caught only parts of it, and what I heard was a mix of softball and stonewalling.

Best to watch it complete live or on Youtube instead of censored by the news. AG Jeff Sessions had a great opening statement and came in strong in the answers. Great point by Senator Cotton on many months wasted with No Evidence and the comparison showing the lunacy of the proceedings. Also interesting study of the Southern Alabama drawl over snappy rude Senator Harris. So funny how Sessions extended out his answer after Harris told to be quiet yet again; using up her remaining time. Personally I think the wrong Attorney General was being questioned, what really "mattered" at the tarmac? The public needs some "fast and furious" answers to the months of delay.

Racism and sexism at work. Other senators also interrupted Sessions, but only Harris was reprimanded. Seems the old white men in the Senate have issues with women. And don't you dare argue they don't. It's pretty plain that sexism is alive in the Senate.

And, in fact, racism and sexism are pretty darn well healthy in America at large as well. Until we come to terms with the face that we still have a major problem with racism and sexism we will never be able to fix things.

That's not good. Glad they have the suspected shooter in custody.

Reading that transcript of the Sessions/Harris exchange, sounds like the whole thing is getting blown out of proportion.

I'm glad they managed to wound the suspected shooter and not kill. It's important in cases like this to have someone to put on trial. Helps make getting answers easier, too.

He died? Last I read, he was in custody and receiving medical treatment.

I am glad to hear all of the victims seem to have non-life threatening wounds. I am also glad to hear the stories from eyewitnesses who were opening their homes for fleeing people to provide shelter. Even in the worst of situations, it is comforting to know that most people are decent.

Apparently Democratic Party members were having their own practice at another field and stopped to pray for their Congressional counterparts when they heard of the attack.

This sort of attack is completely unacceptable in a civilized society. I am happy the gunman was apprehended and that no one else was killed.

We all would have, if only to explain his motivation. That said, if he was anything like that guy in the Portland stabbing attack...well, perhaps this is for the best.
