With the indie game/Greenlight explosion, there have been more new IPs and low budget/experimental games in this gen than in the entirety of the 20th Century gaming history. There has really never been more new stuff to play, regardless of your platform of choice.MrPopo wrote:Amusingly, "The Grouch" by Green Day came up on my playlist right before I read your post.Hazerd wrote:Why does every game have to be a Triple A 100 million dollar game? i miss having fresh IP's, the current generation is horrible for that.

So two re-releases? Lucky's Tale is a rerelease of a vr game no longer in vr and shadow of the colossus is the third release of the game. At least the games you complained about were new games and not literally rehashed games.Hazerd wrote:MrPopo wrote:Amusingly, "The Grouch" by Green Day came up on my playlist right before I read your post.Hazerd wrote:Why does every game have to be a Triple A 100 million dollar game? i miss having fresh IP's, the current generation is horrible for that.ive got at least 2 games in interested in from this years E3 so far
Super Lucky's Tale and the remake of Shadow of the Colossus.

the stuff I read about Super Lucky's Tale said that it was an actual sequel to Lucky's Tale.BogusMeatFactory wrote:So two re-releases? Re: E3 2017
Having finally looked at the Nintendo Treehouse (Day 1?), I can certainly see why people are saying they won so hard!
SUPER fuckin' psyched for the new Kirby 2018. Giving me very much feelings of the Super Star Ultra-style game that got canned for the Gamecube. If friends can control those 3 CPU guys you can get, then I am SOOOO psyched for that.
That Contra meets Metroid 2 remake looks freaking crazy as well. That looks crazy fun as well.
I REALLY hope that there's an option for Japanese audio on Fire Emblem Warriors, because otherwise I'm gonna import the Japanese version. The English voice acting is SO freaking terrible, oh my god. Still gonna buy it, but it's just a question of which version now. Also now that they said that Warriors will use all past FE amiibos, I'm buying all of those that I can possibly find
Not super psyched for Yoshi 2018 though. Dunno why, but it didn't really capture me.
The Mario & Luigi remake looks pretty cool though! I was kind hoping for new game mechanics as well as the graphical update, but it's a neat thing. Hopefully it's not a full 50 or 60 dollar release, is all.
Mario Odyssey has me so fucking sold for a Switch now though. Perhaps more than anything else. Like, maybe it's just because I adored the song in the trailer so much, but that game looks SO fun.

In a lot of ways this is great, but I do worry we're on the cusp of an indie bubble.dsheinem wrote:With the indie game/Greenlight explosion, there have been more new IPs and low budget/experimental games in this gen than in the entirety of the 20th Century gaming history. Re: E3 2017
Well, it is a little early. I suspect a lot of tweaking is going to happen with the Yoshi game.
As far as indies, I think the glut of titles is making it difficult for games to stand out at times, but at the same time, sometimes you get publishers that come along and increase the visibility of deserving projects. It does make me happy, though, that retro-style gaming has not been forgotten, and that I can still play the sorts of games that seemed like they were destined to die forever as the tech kept increasing.

Re: E3 2017
My major concern about a potential indie/retro-styled bubble is that if too many of these small developers crash and burn, it could scare others away from the space. I don't want interesting ideas to be doomed to an eternal boom/bust cycle. I know stability is too much to ask, but I want there to be some kind of sustainable baseline for smaller titles, so that there will always be a place for them.

The new Yoshi looks a lot like Yoshi's Story I thought. Note he had eggs instead of wool this time too.

I have a fairly strong association of "meh" with Yoshi's Story, so perhaps that's why. Good ideaalienjesus wrote:The new Yoshi looks a lot like Yoshi's Story I thought. Note he had eggs instead of wool this time too.
