I've not read a ton of Hulk stuff. The current Hulk series that I'm reading now is really a She-Hulk series. But let's see... I read Hulk: Season One which was a "remake" of the origin story, part of the Season One line that I actually do enjoy. And... shit, I thought I had read more.
Well, I did read The New Fantastic Four: Monsters Unleashed which was an early 90's book that was awesome. As the title suggests, there's a "new" Fantastic Four consisting of Hulk, Wolverine, Ghost Rider and Spidey. I loved that one.
I do have a comic adaptation of the Hulk movie, but I haven't read that.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
So Mr. Brad, is this comic is related to the TV Show? I just finished Iron Fist (which I really liked) and I am eagerly anticipating The Defenders.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
my understanding is that it's not 'related' exactly, but it's combining the current DD, Cage, JJ, and Iron Fist comics into a collective the same way the show did. So the stories aren't 1:1 or anything because the solo comics were doing their own thing.Stark wrote:So Mr. Brad, is this comic is related to the TV Show? At any rate, I am excited. I feel like Bendis will handle Jess in this team setting better than he has been with her solo book.

Did you ever get around to reading Future Foundation? I think that's some great stuff.
Planet Hulk is worth a read, and World War Hulk is OK, if not great.
I LOVE She Hulk, especially the Dan Slott run.

I've got Planet Hulk on extended To Read list.
I really like She-Hulk in general. Besides the new series, there was a Fantastic Four book I read last year (Lost Adventures) that I really enjoyed her being a part of.
@Stark: Have you kept up w/ Kate Bishop Hawkeye? I've read the first 6 issues and loved them.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
some things of interest that came out this week...

Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows, Vol. 1
This is one of my absolute favorite current series. This book collects #1-5. It's all about Peter Parker and MJ and their daughter Annie and how they balance family life and everyday responsibilities along with being superheroes. It's definitely aimed at readers of a certain age (that is, ones who are of an age that spouses, and family, and work must be juggled...). Great stuff.

The Defenders #1
Having now read this first issue - DUDES! Trust me; this is great. If you're a fan of the Marvel shows, you will love it. If you're a fan of The Pulse-era Jessica Jones, you will love it. If you're a fan of The New Avengers run that Bendis did, you will love it. Etc. It's fantastic. This book had highhhh expectations and I almost worried that I was putting too much pressure on it to deliver. But nope. It's excellent.

The Vision #1: Director's Cut
Alright in fairness the single issues of The Vision have long been sold out and collected into TPB's. So this is sort of unnecessary. BUT, if you like buying single issues more, and if you are interested in seeing extra artwork/etc that comes with these deluxe repritnts, and if you're okay with spending a couple bucks more then it's pretty awesome that Marvel's reprinting such a beloved series.

I guess so you don't feel alone in here I can mention I picked up the latest collected editions of Spider-Gwen. I've been digging the book since it isn't just "Spider Man with boobs", but instead follows how the character would evolve given a different set of starting circumstances. I also like how the other Marvel mainstays have also changed in this parallel universe; little shifts in their past can radically alter the course of a character's life even if the core of that character is the same.

thank you. A thread without posts is not much of a thread at all.MrPopo wrote:I guess so you don't feel alone in here
Spider-Gwen.
I really don't know about Spider-Gwen. I don't think I'm much of a fan of the art style. But I'm maybe remembering wrong. I've not really paid attention. There's a lot of Spider-books right now, and the only one I really love is Renew Your Vows. The main "Amazing" series has been kind of meh for me. Spider-Man/Deadpool I dipped into during the "Til Death Do Us..." mini-series and it was a lot of fun, but not enough to convince em to read it on a monthly basis. Then there's the Miles Morales series. And then other tangients like the re-launch of Venom and um Silk and etc. It's a lot. I am kind of interested in the new Peter Parker book starting next week though.
Sorry, rambling. Spider-Gwen... I really don't know about her. Is it like total alternate timeline stuff? Like Gwenpool? I can't get into Gwenpool. Wayyy too silly for me.
Yes! Beardo!Stark wrote:Ordered The Defenders and Hawkeye #4.
Seriously, Kate Bishop rules. If I hate a series, I stop reading right away. If I like a series, I'll give it until I wrap up the first TPB (usually 5 or 6 issues) and then re-evaluate if I want to keep reading. I've stopped reading a fair number of series that I like after #6-ish because there's too many comics, and I'd rather make room for stuff I potentially love instead of continuing to read stuff I only like.
Kate Bishop/Hawkeye is one of the few (Avengers, Renew Your Vows...) new series that I hit #6 and didn't even consider taking a break from. That whole first story arc was brilliant and the few issues w/ Jessica Jones made me much happier than the whole first six issues of JJ's new solo book.
