Amen. Nothing seems to bring out the true competitiveness in these companies like a good ol' fashioned ass whuppin'.

XboneX sounds like a bad user name for some guy I ganked in TFC back in the day.

I'm asking the same thing. I have no idea. I know we hate the term, but all I can really conclude is that this is for the more casual crowd that for whatever reason, hasn't upgraded yet within the last four years. Which is a long time, although these current gens keep lasting longer, we're probably around the midpoint now. Anyone who is super picky about quality at this point would be far better off and future proof going the PC route. Granted not everyone out there has the know how or wants to build their own PC, but from what people say (around here too) even the prebuilt PC market is pretty good nowadays. A few extra bucks over the Xbone One X and you could get something that will be more future proof and more versatile. You got Steam, GOG, and just about everything nowadays supports gamepads on PC and button mapping gets easier and easier. We have wireless keyboards and mouses. The XOX is so much more limited.retrosportsgamer wrote:I posted this in the Xbox thread too, but after spending the last two years trying to catch up to the PS4 and offering around solid bundles with upgraded hardware in the S, who are they trying to recruit here? Original $500 buyers who have stuck around (for another $500!)? PC gamers?
The backwards compatible pop from the crowd was topical; that report came out recently from mining XBox user activity on the One that just 1% of gaming time was spent playing 360 games. I hope we can use our old discs. 5 of the last 6 retro games i've bought are original Xbox games!
We're at such a strange crossroads here with this generation. I'm always going to be a console guy, but at this rate with these consoles wanting to do more, I just don't see the point when I have a PS4 with all the exclusives and more I'd want, plus a good PC, then I'll get around to the Switch for Nintendo stuff. I'd even favor the idea of building a second PC for a living room/gaming only setup instead of putting money down for an Xbox One X. A lot of us were saying it for like this entire last year, this was MS's chance to reveal some new IP's and exclusives... but they didn't. Everything they showed there will be available on PC and other platforms. Like Sony's exclusives or not, the list is already crazy stacked in comparison by this point and they've had way more exclusive Japanese support this gen, that MS has never had and there might be no turning back there, especially when big projects like Scalebound get cancelled, or JRPG's like Lost Odyssey and whatnot sell horribly, what Japanese niche developers would even want their stuff exclusive on Xbox nowadays?
I also don't know what to make of the backwards compatible thing either. I saw the same article and wasn't really surprised. It's probably just a very small but loud minority that yells about this stuff. But yeah, I'm all for the "all in one" console that can play old stuff. I could see myself getting an XOX down the road and if it can fully replace my Xbox and 360 on the shelf, that would be cool. But support is still limited I believe and sounds like it will be case by case with the Xbox as well, that might be why they only showed off Crimson Skies so far. On the flip side here, my Xbox and 360 both work just fine, nothing NEW is enticing me whatsoever to upgrade to the One... so what's the point? My old consoles can handle their native games, so for me and others this isn't a selling point at all. That's crazy it got the biggest applause. That shouldn't be a good sign.
Mixed emotions for sure. I was hoping for more even though I feel fully content on not getting an Xbox One in anytime soon. But I'm still kind of surprised how flat this all fell.
EDIT: I was also not impressed with the Crackdown 3 footage at all haha. And I loved the first game! But this looks like ... 2007. I don't know how else to put it. It's 2007 all over again with co-op. I just don't care and have played these kind of games several times over by this point.
----------
Anyways, I hope Sony continues to hit hard and not get complacent. I'm thinking we'll see more God of War and maybe Last of Us 2 stuff. Outside of that, not totally sure. But two exclusives is already more than the XOX's offering... lol.

Another year goes by, another year I totally forget about and (more or less) miss E3. Y'all's arguin' and speculatin' is proper entertaining at the very least X3
I don't know who has enough time to play everything that's already out there enough to get excited for new games though. No more games could ever come out and I think I'd still have enough on my plate to last me the rest of my life Xp

$500 is too much. I'd rather just buy a gaming PC at this point.

Do any of you who are giving it an immediate pass have a 4K HDR TV? If you did, would it change your thinking?

I saw a tweet that said there's no way you could build a PC as powerful as the XOX for $500. I'm not a PC parts guy; does that sound accurate?Sarge wrote:$500 is too much. I'd rather just buy a gaming PC at this point.

For those saying to go with a PC, it already takes advantage of 4k. This is for console only gamers to upgrade.dsheinem wrote:Do any of you who are giving it an immediate pass have a 4K HDR TV? If you did, would it change your thinking?

So Bethesda was neck and neck with the Xbox presentation in terms of my interest when they showed the new Dishonored trailer. Then they finished with Wolfenstein II and took a massive lead. Following up on The New Order, setting it in the US, and having the gunplay from The Old Blood. The only way the wishlist could be better is if there's a secret boss that's Hitler in the giant four chaingun mecha from the original.
