Yeah, it really is just mash and win. So the only difficulty is realizing your Dosbox copy needs the cycles turned down because she hacks your brain too fast. Soon as I turned them down a little I beat it first try.

Play this one as vanilla first. Call of Pripyat is the third in the series and the most stable of the three, so you don't really need any mods to make it worthwhile. If you were going to play the first two, I'd say look into fan patches at the very least, but for CoP, vanilla is fine.

I think I heard more recently it's a Source Engine game? I never knew that, but I guess I'm surprised to hear it might have some optimization struggles. Then again Half-Life 2 was kind of a mess itself from the start, lol.
It is a Source game, but it's based on the very first version of the source engine and was never updated. Half-Life 2 dropped in 2004, and so did this game, so it was the first non-Valve Source game to be released. Valve constantly back ports features into their early Source games, but it just doesn't work out that way for Vampire. It's worth the trouble, though. And it's not really about optimization but just getting the game to boot and not crash or freeze.

For my summer challenge, I've now beaten the first 6 levels of Descent 2. That's 18 more to go.

Dudes, just like in the original Killing Floor, KF2 is doing events. The Summer Sideshow is about to begin, where everything will be carnival themed. Also new weapons and a weekly challenge mode.

I went on an FPS buying frenzy with these PC summer sales. Picked up Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4, Syndicate, and Singularity. All are double dipped with the Xbox 360 but now with snazzy PC graphics at a price lower than any of them when new.

Anyway, Syndicate was the game I chose to play first. I finished it on the 360 but seeing it in higher resolution and 60FPS makes it all that much better. Did the first mission thus far just to see how it ran. Even though I haven't played it in awhile, the gun play is great. I forgot how "weighty" the guns feel and and how hard they hit. $5 well spent!

I've been playing through the 1999 Aliens versus Predator that I got for $2 on GoG's sale a couple weeks ago. I finished the colonial marine campaign last night and the alien campaign this morning. I'm hoping to get through the predator campaign tonight.

I couldn't get into AvP1.

AvP2 is awesome though. Least I have really good memories of that one.

The new ones are terribad.

Where did you buy Syndicate?

@Ack: Been seeing you play some Dying Light lately if you don't my stalking, how is it? It looked like a neat blend of Far Cry 3+ and Mirror's Edge from what I've seen.

I just finished the last of the three campaigns. I enjoyed it, though I did have to take a break between campaigns and do a bit of something else as a pallet cleanser. I'll have my review posted in the Games Beaten thread tomorrow morning.

Purchased it through Origin this past Wednesday. Looks like the price went back up to $19.99 however.
