Re: What are you playing?
So I started the Xbox 360 shovelware Great Battles - Medieval last night just to see if it's actually as horrible as it sounds. Having played a couple hours, it's definitely not as bad as I expected, and it's somewhat addicting, but it's certainly not what I'd call "exciting."

I started Bayonetta 1 on the Wii U. This game fucking rocks. I've never played these and had heard them compared to Devil May Cry alot. So I finally found the two pack for Wii U and this game has everything I want in an action game. It's stylish, sexy, fast paced, bloody, and smooth. I'm really looking forward to uncovering the story, there's alot going on in this war between Heaven and Hell.

You are in for a treat. Both games are great, but Bayonetta 2 somehow manages to completely blow the first game out of the water.
Re: What are you playing?
I only thought the original game was good, not amazing, but the sequel definitely beats it in every regard. Really good stuff.

Re: What are you playing?
From a gameplay perspective I'd totally agree, the first is solid, but its not at the peak of the genre. From a style perspective, I completely loved it though.Sarge wrote:I only thought the original game was good, not amazing, but the sequel definitely beats it in every regard. Really good stuff.
Bayonetta 2 keeps the style, and also reaches the highest tier of the genre. Its fantastic all around.
Re: What are you playing?
IMO Bayonetta 2 is the greatest action game ever made. It's the DMC3 for Bayonetta series.
As for the topic started Persona 5 again. I ran out of shmups to play for now.

Wii U is definitely the way to play if you're into the wacky costumes they included in that port. I'm really hopeful that the mystery game Platinum is making for Switch is Bayonetta 3, though it wouldn't surprise me if it were a Bayonetta 2 port.strangenova wrote:I started Bayonetta 1 on the Wii U. Everblue 2

I've currently put four hours into this 2002 scuba diving action-adventure-RPG. It's a direct sequel to Everblue 1*, and isn't far removed. That's not to say things haven't been polished up and streamlined a bit more. I've certainly had a great time with it so far. There's never any shortage of things to do. Aside from the main campaign, Arika added crafting systems to this sequel, and have many NPCs offering sidequests, for example.

Some highlights would be diving a sunken ferry to collect a trophy that convinced an exclusive diving club to let me join. Finding a crashed airplane and retrieving a diary from one of its cabins for a client. Winning a timed salvage contest against a rival diver. Scouring an old underwater construction site to collect the scrap I needed to upgrade my boat for deeper oceanic excursions. Tonight I'm diving a humongous and eerie wrecked passenger liner in hopes of finding a sealed briefcase thus foiling a nefarious corporation (by doing so before they). It's just high quality entertainment that doesn't rely on simply killing things as the core game design.

Everblue 2 is really cool, very unique, and I love playing it. I wish there were more scuba diving games with plots and RPG elements like this. But I'm afraid this genre and game design was too exotic for your average gamer, hence neither Everblue nor Everblue 2 sold particularly well. Kudos to OLDschool Capcom for localizing the games and trying though.

PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What are you playing?
I still like DMC1, 3, maybe some of 4, and Ninja Gaiden Xbox more than the Bayo's. Still need to beat Bayo 1 someday, but 2 was definitely good. There's a lot of stop and go in these games though with the onslaught of cutscenes and interruptions, it can be hard to get in a good groove. Moreso in the first, since the second game is kind of just like a boss gauntlet from start to finish. But for some reason this style of game can take me awhile to finish. I got through Bayo 2 by doing one level a night for a week or so.
I am sure it's easy to skip the cutscenes though on replays and burn through the games, like the DMC's as well.
Not to suggest I dislike her or the goofy characters/plots, but yeah. When control is constantly stripped out of my hands I get exhausted.
The Souls series is the opposite of this design giving you full player control throughout and this is reason 938,423 why it's a perfect series by the way in case you were wondering.
