Yep, we are oil and water. Majora's Mask is the best Zelda game for me. Best story, best characters, broad range of emotions and the mask mechanic is excellent. Don't know how you could say it felt rushed when it is a far more complex game than the majority of Zelda games.Segata wrote:I like some Zelda games but dislike others. Not a fan of MM at all. Felt like a side story rushed into being a main game. Also hate the time mechanic. Phantom Hourglass is the only Zelda game I will truly say I despise with every fiber of my being. I will even call it a bad game. I skipped Spirit Tracks because of PH. I also skipped SS. Didn't like Minish Cap tho won't say it's bad. LOVE WW. I did get tired of the OoT formula. Breath of the Wild is amazing. It's the NES game on steroids in 3D. It's as close as I can get to what I had in my imagination seeing the art for the NES game back then.

Currently playing and being QA tester for this
Treachery in Beatdown City. Not a dev or anything just good friends with the dev and a KS backer. It's a Beat em up RPG. The battle system is similar to that of Fallout.
Re: What are you playing?
My problem with Majora's Mask isn't the characters, it's the structure of the game itself. Very little dungeoning overall, and lots of side-questing, usually just to get another mask. So really, even the payoff for all the extra stuff doesn't become apparent until the end of the game, when you get the Fierce Deity mask. I think it might be my least favorite Zelda game, at least of the series proper.
It's still not bad, though. It was just very hard for it to keep my attention. It's not what I want out of the series. Can't deny the amazing mood the game sets, though.

Oh I totally understand. It is definitely not a typical Zelda game with a style that doesn't necessarily click with some. Not growing up with Zelda, I learned to appreciate this one a bit more because of its unconventional nature.Sarge wrote:My problem with Majora's Mask isn't the characters, it's the structure of the game itself. I was talking to folks about this before, but the, "best Zelda," arguments are always so silly. All the Zelda games are great and I can't really tell a person that their personal experience, playstyle and nostalgic stories are wrong.
I'm not saying that anyone was doing that in this conversation in particular.

Ran into some glitches but he was glad I pointed out stuff he didn't detect. It's an unusual concept. Beat em up with a vats system. The music is the real stand out from Jake Kaufman. It's pre alpha when I do get used it kinda fun. I do think it's something to adjust to.Segata wrote:Currently playing and being QA tester for thisTreachery in Beatdown City. Anything from Jake Kaufman gets me interested. Dude's got all sorts of talent.
Re: What are you playing?
Is there a certain point where Spec Ops The Line clicks? I've seen a lot of praise here and around about it, mainly for the writing. But everything else... pretty boring to me so far. Generic cover shooters are a thing of the past I do not miss at all.
Re: What are you playing?
The gameplay is pretty generic, and never really gets elevated from that. The plot tends to just ramp up though, and it's not that long, so I'd say to just push on through and see for yourself.
Re: What are you playing?
Yeah I beat it this morning. It was worth it for its short length. Good stuff!

Been playing The Swindle that I got from Limited Run for my Vita, and I'm really not impressed. The more I play this game, the more I want to like it but the more it gives me reasons not to. I hope for this sake that this is just a butchered port, because holy fuck does this game run like absolute trash for a game with no 3D assets. Without exaggeration, more than half of the levels have game-breaking framerate drops that make them absolutely unplayable, which is pretty fucking damning in a game where one hit kills you. I'll whine more in the beaten (or perhaps not beaten) thread when I beat/give up on it for good, but damn I just needed to blow some steam off about this game.
