I'm starting to lean to getting a supergun, but can't seem to find some info on it.
I know it'll run neo geo boards, and i'm pretty sure that all I need is the supergun and board to do that.
However- what is the deal with the capcom play system? If i have a supergun with a jamma harness can i run a rival schools board? or marvel vs capcom?
jamma supergun questions...
Re: jamma supergun questions...
Absolutely. A Supergun is in theory, just a jamma player. CPS 1 & 2 stuff works fine. Now, the kick harness is another deal that I know nothing about.
But yes, a supergun can play most of the jamma boards out there.

Re: jamma supergun questions...
Standard Jamma only supports 3 buttons. The neo geo, however, has 4 buttons. When you build your supergun you can use the pinout for a neo geo controller http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=cont ... controller so that you can use a standard neo geo aes stick. This works great since almost every Jamma board uses 4 buttons or less, but for the capcom cps and a few other games you need a kick harness as mentioned in the post above. A kick harness is just a bundle of wires that runs from the board to your controller port or your own custom 6 button setup. It is for the extra 3 buttons that the cps boards need. Not every 6 button game uses the same kick harness though, so you will have to have a different one for every different type of board. I know capcom cps2 and cps3 use the same kick harness, but it is different than the cps1 kick harness. Mortal kombat also uses a completely different kick harness. Hope that helps out somewhat
Here are some of the resources I used when I was building my supergun, the last link is a complete guide that was absolutely indispensable!

thanks chipperkwah. You are overwhelming with information! : )
i was actually looking to buy one, not build one. Building one is way way way over my head. I saw a few on ebay that are built with 6 buttons. I'm assuming all the buttons are wired in, but I'm curious if you can swap out the kick harness? Where does the kick harness plug in?

Oh if you are looking to buy one go with D-Lite over at multimods, his are the shit! They all include cps2 and cps3 kick harnesses as well, so they are probably perfect for you. He does lots of other cool console mods too.
