Time wise, that doesn't sound bad to me at all. I'm so in the mood for this at the moment that the commitment doesn't seem like much.

I've been putting points into Vitality, Strength, Dexterity, and Endurance, and so far ignoring everything else. In Demon's I only went into other stat territory (like Faith) to meet requirements for individual things I wanted, and I'll probably go the same way here.

I cleared out the Undead Burg and Undead Parish tonight, killed the gargoyles and rang the bell of the church.

And thanks, Isiolia, for telling me last week (or the week before?) about how cutting off enemy tails often yields a reward in this series. The dragon on the bridge was dangling his tail in such a tempting fashion (right next to a message labeled "Sniping Spot", which also helped) that I decided to shoot it a lot. It popped off and I got an awesome new sword.

I stopped at the boss in the Lower Undead Burg, who made me eat dirt pretty much the moment I walked in. It was annoying, but I feel like I got a lot done tonight, so eh.

Having the Demon's Souls experience so fresh in my mind is helping me a lot here I think.

The subtle differences are interesting, like the camera perspective in Dark Souls being a tad more zoomed out than in Demon's. If you're playing on PS3, Dark seems to have a worse framerate than Demon's, but the textures and graphics are definitely improved. Framerate never bothered me in any of these anyways, played them all on consoles and got platinums... sooo. I'll definitely be curious to see how you compare them overall the further you get into Dark.

Was it the Capra Demon you got to? Kind of a small minotaur-esque monster in a closet sized arenas with a few wolves haha. That can be a tricky fight for newcomers.

Mostly the tail fetish is in DS1, but yeah, the Drake Sword is veeery effective if you get it early (which I believe is the point). It doesn't have any stat scaling though, so it'll get surpassed by other weapons by mid game. I also think it can't be buffed? Though items to do that are pretty limited in DS1 relative to 2 and 3.

Sounds like you met the Capra Demon, which is certainly mean (mostly due to the arena, and his dogs...). Can be frustrating - I think I died the most to that boss on my most recent run.

Now that I'm done with Prey, jumping back into Dark Souls 3!

Think I'm about done with the Ashes DLC, seemed short but I actually really enjoyed this area. I'm always a sucker for snowy levels. Thankfully the difficulty is completely fair, despite me being level 204 on NG+++(?), whereas the Bloodborne DLC was far too punishing when I jumped in doing that. So far I got one level up out of it haha, probably the only one I'll get this whole DLC. Not like it really matters at this point, I'm just pumping up Attunement for more FPS. Does Dex increase casting speed in this one too? I'm still using my Lightning Dark Sword +10 and Heavy Long Sword +10, after Bloodborne I wanted some speed heh. That Quakestone Mace/Hammer? you get in this DLC seems awesome though, so if I want a two handed weapon I might try that out. The Millhorn armor set is pretty cool looking, fun to use in this area.

So yeah, was surprised by this DLC despite hearing kind of lukewarm things. I mean, most of the DLC levels in DS1 were pretty whatever to me, though it had good bosses. This was better to me. Very excited about the Ringed City though and it looks longer.

I also don't mind that the DLC's don't have trophies. Kind of a weird move... but oh well. Since I have 100% already I won't have to obsess over anything again.

It does, capping in effectiveness at 50.

-however-

DS3 has the Sage Ring/+1/+2 which adds 30/35/40 points of "virtual dexterity" towards casting speed. So, you can cap out casting speed with 10-20 DEX provided you can fit that into your build.

The Ringed City is a good bit bigger, and has at least one good soul farming loop to it if you're wanting XP.

How in the heck do you get that item in front of the Earthen Peak Ruins?

This area was pretty cool and intense with the angel beams raining down on you while in a big poison swamp and giant weird tree branches for pathways.

Which one? Most that I recall are just difficult to get to when under fire, but if you've gotten through there then you've likely killed off the ground-based enemies that the angel things are tied to.

Yeeeah, it's the Capra Demon, and this guy can get fucked sideways.

Or rather, his dogs can.

I only managed to kill them once, and still ended up losing the fight. Most times I walk in and get stun locked to death in a matter of seconds. Sometimes I can dodge the initial attack and get up the stairs, but I don't have the stamina to withstand the barrage. This is ridiculously frustrating.

Not done trying tonight, but I needed a break. Jeez.

Edit: Finally beat him, after several more attempts. I went into the Depths for a bit and ultimately turned back. I'm done for one day.

Think I'm at the end of The Ringed City and it has been glorious. But these last two bosses are insane so it's time to put it down and come back another day, hah.

Basically mother freaking Bahamut and another insane Allant/Gwyn/Cinder type that I love. And I think I messed up my chances of getting a summon for the Bahamut archdragon fight, that one seems like it will be even tougher than Gael.
