But i still dont remember it being big here in the west. Were talking about the days of Everquest and WOW when it first dropped right?
Everquest yes, but WoW was still several years off.

The original PSO was more comparable to Diablo than those games, in any case.
True, better to compare diablo. On this subject wasnt Runescape considered big back then? I think all mmos were sort of fringe at that time.

True, PSO on the DC/GC would fit well with a 3D behind the camera view of Diablo in how it is handled. Basic core town with a few things to shop for from the same general vendor, etc and you go out into the areas (with teleports back) to move the story along. I don't recall placing a lot of time on PSO on the GC, maybe 30 hours or so, but that's because I had it online for Dreamcast with the keyboard and all that for over 100hours and dialup and went nuts with a hunter and a elementalist duo I made up.

I'd say the bigger factor was that most online gaming at the time was confined to PC. So, in most markets, folks looking to do that probably were already looking at a more crowded marketplace.

That's probably a major difference to account for in comparing PSO to Destiny or whatnot. Today, console connectivity is essentially a given. When PSO originally launched, it wasn't. The effective audience was much smaller.

Far Cry Blood Dragon was a great idea on paper but the problem is in execution it falls flat. The music is honestly one of the best soundtracks in gaming. It has many on point references and cool moments. Visually great. Then we get to playing the game....it's the same damn thing over and over. Take base open map..take a base...open more map. I got so bored so fast. I did a few bases and just quit. Also game would have been a lot funnier had it played it straight instead of the over the top humor and 4th wall breaking jokes. Had they played it straight the ridiculousness of it all would speak louder. Lastly the 20 sided dice is so forced and makes no real sense. I know why they did it but rocks would have been fine..they had rocks in 80s films. I don't hate the game at all. Some cool stuff came from it. I wish more games tried something like this. Maybe the 80s thing is overdone but I can't get enough of it in films and TV and games. I just wish they made this it's own game with unique gameplay to it. Far Cry and Ubi open worlds are just so dull to play.

You know what maybe a sequel that's a TPS linear game. That would be pretty awesome. I'd be down for it.

Kinda agreed. I think I enjoy Crash more than J&D. J&D just felt so generic and boring to me (granted I haven't played it in like a decade), it just couldn't entertain me. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I grew up with it much younger.

Yeah Jak & Daxter isn't good. Stick with Sly Cooper and Ratchet & Clank.

I don't think it is bad, but I don't think it is as good as people remember. Having played it a few years ago, I wasn't like, "Ewww," but I was not wowed.
