I'm far from an Xbox fan, but I never got more than a Hidden Gems vibe from that game.Exhuminator wrote:Gunvalkyrie should probably be included as a defining game. It seems like everybody who owned an Xbox either owned or at least played it.
If we're including games which were hyped (and perhaps failed to live up to that hype) then Blinx and Brute Force deserve mentions.

I quite enjoyed it but it surely wasn't the "Metroid killer" SEGA touted it as.racketboy wrote:I'm far from an Xbox fan, but I never got more than a Hidden Gems vibe from that game.Exhuminator wrote:Gunvalkyrie should probably be included as a defining game. I am with racket on this one. Crimson skies I can see on the list, but being a fan of the oxbox when it released, gunvalkyrie wasn't even on my radar in the media.racketboy wrote:I'm far from an Xbox fan, but I never got more than a Hidden Gems vibe from that game.Exhuminator wrote:Gunvalkyrie should probably be included as a defining game. Wasn't Fable a big deal because of the open path of being good or evil? Wasn't this a first for consoles?

Yeah, it was a pretty good deal. Got a lot of hype during development. Didn't quite live up to hype, but I think it warrants a defining game role.retrosportsgamer wrote:Wasn't Fable a big deal because of the open path of being good or evil? Wasn't this a first for consoles?

If I recall, the main thing with Fable wasn't just a morality system or whatnot, but that it was supposed to adapt to all sorts of player decisions. The actual product is...a bit less. Fairly standard hype/development cycle for a Peter Molyneux game
I don't think having options in the questline was really a new thing. Maybe changing the character model based on it?

Fable was supposed to be a serious game about seeing your family murdered and who you become after that...so I became a hardened warrior who farted on everyone.
