Retrocube idea: Cool or just too expensive?

Post by miked »

It goes a little something like this.

Gamecube + Sd Media launcher for SNES, NES and Genny emus + GB Player for GBA/GB(already have this stuff)

NES GC skin from Decal Girl: http://www.decalgirl.com/browse.cfm/4,2551.htm

SNES and NES to GC controller adpaters from here: http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath ... f7ad4a0e86

And some SNES and NES controllers of course. Notice the price of those adapters.......Once I got controllers too Im gonna be out of a decent amount of cash. I guess I could skip the NES ones though, but I would have to have at least one to take some pics of it matching :D

I must say that NES skin is pretty horrible.

The rest sounds good. I always wish I picked up one of those game boy players, but now I don't have a gamecube anyway.

1. I like the NES skin.
2. I say go for it. Lately I feel like the GC + GBPlayer combo is the greatest system.

How good are the SNES/NES/Genesis emulators for Gamecube by the way?

Can these be launched from an SD Gecko?

Modman: Decal girl claim they are "repositionable/removable". But yes its very sad to see a used machine at gamestop or a pawn shop that has nasty brown dust ridden adhesive all over it.

Flak: Very good actually. The Gen and NES are damn near 100% perfect with only a minor sound glitch here or there. The SNES runs pretty much everything full speed except games that had extra chips like super fx etc. The only game I find unplayable is sadly Yoshi's Island. It throws off my timing and I miss alot of jumps and run into alot of stuff for some reason. Luckily I can play it on the GB player.

It should support the sd gecko just fine too.

I think the skin is pretty cool. I would never get skin for a console, but I do like it.

That skin is pretty sweet. And I think it would be a cool idea. Maybe even look for that zenith LCD that fits on top the GC and plugs directly in the unit and paint it gray to match the NES skin. I have one and it gives a great picture for the money and size. Also, I believe there was a battery from intec that ran the GC for close to 2 hours. Although, I'm not sure how good it is or if the battery life is accurate as I have not used it myself. Good luck
