MrPopo wrote:Personally, I think you went in wanting to hate it. You've got Alien far too built up just like it sounds like you did with Star Wars. So a movie that doesn't live up to the original now becomes the worst thing imaginable, instead of just being a decent movie in the same universe.
I went in very optimistic. I was expecting better than Prometheus. So, rather the opposite... went in way too optimistic. I was really digging the first fourth or so, but then it just spiraled out of control with the David Bible stories wankfest and queue all these lame characters I don't care about die. It tripped up hard. You can't tell me you didn't roll your eyes or laugh at the follow up part from the chest burst, that was straight up Space Balls.

That part was fine. Are you saying it's really so strange for someone to slip on a huge pool of blood from someone having a foreign creature burst out of their body?

Alien. 20 years since I last saw it. Nice seeing it in HD. Weaver was sorta hot then. Still a great film.

I'm talking about the part when the classic xeno bursts out of the captain in the egg room, then slowly rises up like it wants a hug from David.

Edit: Xeogred beat me to it

Anyways, New Jack City. First time ever seeing this one. I'm impressed, the story was great and the movie was rather smart. The soundtrack is also phenomenal. Fans of gangster movies or urban crime dramas should check this one out.

You guys are weird. That part was built up already by the previous scene in the movie.

It wasn't a hug, but copying David's pose.
The scene on the cargo ship fighting the xeno was cool too.

The ending was fairly telegraphed though.

Ironically the first thing in your spoiler I actually had the most problems with, specifically why was that part so exciting? It's like the pilot was intentionally being bad at it. But it was still cool and fun.

Response to second thing in your spoiler:
Yeah, when I saw the android come up after the fight I'm like "Oh man, that must be David", but then they did a good job of having him keep holding off on being evil and being concerned about the Xenomorph on board that I thought "maybe he isn't David?"

The problems came from it first attacking the cockpit, and then deploying the crane arm, having it hang off the side messed up the stability and balance of the ship.
