What was the last movie you've seen?

Roku sent me a 5 dollar credit on Vudu. Since I never seen it I rented Mad Max Fury Road for the first time. It's been a couple decades since I saw the originals From what I gather it's not a reboot but a sequel...Max must be immortal as the 3rd I think took place 20 years after the second. This is sometime after the 3rd and looks 35. Well anyway. This movie for so much wasteland is a gorgeous film to look at. Some really cool imagery. My favorite is the flame thrower guitar guy rocking out. I really enjoyed it.

I haven't seen Fury Road yet either but I've heard alot of really good things about it. I need to get around to that one.

Well I watched Arrival. What a great movie. It ticked all the right boxes for scifi: the human condition, theoretical concepts, high tech alien visitors. The acting was well done too. The movie was a slow burner there for awhile but by the time I got to the end I was deeply invested in Amy Adams.

I'm gonna spoiler a few more of my thoughts
The whole movie I thought it was trying to pull a Signs on me, where her past had some predetermined bearing on the present. When the finally dropped the nonlinear time on me, fucking mindblown.

I hadn't even considered it. Nonlinear time has always been one of my favorite concepts too. And that's when the movie really got me, knowing that she knows her daughter is going to die but having a daughter anyway just for all the moments in between. Powerful stuff.

I had a friend watching with us and he did not get the concept. He thought they were saying that there were two timelines that influenced each other, rather than all time being as one moment.

Yeah I saw at the end that it was based on a story. Does the author have other good short stories too?

Ted Chiang is a good author. I have enjoyed many of his stories.

I watched two movies yesterday with alien creatures and a black mist like substance. Only one of those movies I enjoyed.

yes, the stuff you spoilered was great. I thought it was going one way and it totally threw me off in a great way.

Saw Guardians 2 today and thought it was a total blast. Great time, just like the first movie.
