If you're up for something a little bit off the beaten path in terms of RPG experiences (think something along the lines of EarthBound), I found Costume Quest to be a charming little short form RPG. Here's the post-game blurb I wrote about it back in 2014:

Costume Quest
A lightweight but enjoyable RPG brought to you from the mind of Tim Schafer. This one can get by on it's wit, charm, and good looks alone. The story is that you're a kid out trick-or-treating on Halloween in a town that's mysteriously being overrun with Monsters. The hook is that the various costumes you collect grant you new and various powers in battle. The candy you receive through trick-or-treating is the in-game currency. And of course the game has that fantastic sense of Tim Schafer zaniness throughout. It's all great fun. If the game has a weak point it's that the combat is very repetitive. That's not to say it's not enjoyable mind, but once you've built your party, the exact same combat strategy can essentially carry you through the rest of the game. The issue is compounded due to the fact that both your HP and powered attack level reset after every battle so there's not a lot of strategy that goes into how and when to go into battle (or whether to run). Be that as it may, the game is a hoot and a holler and I'd recommend it to any RPG fan looking for something lighthearted that can be completed in a short amount of time.

I didn't mention it at the time, but this one has a really nice art style as well. I have yet to play the sequel, but I'd assume it carries with it the same charm of its predecessor.

I recently played through Chroma Squad:

It's a cute little tactical RPG that's pretty simple but has some amusing mechanics. It's a parody of Super Sentai/Power Rangers by a Brazilian developer. It's only around 8 hours long though there are three paths through the game. It's a fun weekend waster. I think it's available on mobile platforms as well.

El Dorado Gate on Dreamcast or at least Episode 1 wasn't took long. I don't have more episodes yet. pretty good RPG from Capcom. If you got them all obviouslly be a much longer game. Still you can play them in episodes so still can act like a shorter game if pressed for time.

KOTOR 2 - Similar time on HLTB.
Played KOTOR1 last year.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Xbox - 32h 57m
Hmmm... Well, maybe those are slightly over the limit then. It's been at least... 10-12 years since I played either game, so I'll take your word for it!
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

marlowe221, I'd say my time just fortifies the median you posted since it's in the same ball park. Give or take a few hours, not a huge deal I'd say.

The first Final Fantasy. How Long to Beat suggest the NES version is under 30, and I definitely remember the PS1 version being under 30 the first time I played it.
This I can confirm, the non-NES versions of FF1 are pretty easy to beat in 10 hours. Think that's what I had on the PSX and GBA versions.

Dragon Fantasy, sorry don't have a time on it, but it's a very short RPG originally for mobile but then got a physical release on PS4. It's an 8/16bit comedy homage to the old Square & Enix style JRPGs of the 20th century.
