DC-X in VGA mode?

Post by MJW »

I know the DC-X boot disc can load games IN vga mode, but is there a way to boot the disc on a monitor (so you see the DC-X directions/options on screen)?

Me neither, but I know that most DC releases are VGA compatible or VGA patched

I'm trying to boot an actual retail copy of the PAL Shenmue 2 on my US system. It seems that only disc one won't boot with everything, 2-4 are fine (used DC-X, Gameshark, CDX, Utopia). I managed yesterday to get disc 1 to boot on my TV with the DC-X bootdisc, however I still can't get it going on VGA.

Strangely enough though, the DC-X will only load the game on ONE of my TVs (a newer HD). I'm thinking the PAL>NTSC conversion it does is fairly dodgey, and the newer TV can handle it or something...........

Well, I used Gameshark CDX to boot my retail Shenmue 2 in VGA. Dunno what else to tell ya.

Yeah, it sort of weirds me out that only discs 2-4 will boot easily. I think I might just play through disc one via the ripped version, then switch to the real discs from disc two onward.

I'm going to look into that soon by borrowing a friends Dreamcast (if it loads perfectly on him, its just my Dreamcast being a jerk).
