einhander

Post by dlmvii »

I have vague recollections of playing this, and remember enjoying it. I'm thinking of purchasing it, as it's available for a price thats slightly cheaper than normal (albeit, it's still $40, which is a lot) Does this game still stand up well? Anyone have any opinions on it?
I think that nostalgia is playing a factor in my fondness for this game, or what I can remember of it

Yes, it's an excellent shooter. Not quite as hard core as an R-type or Radiant Silvergun, but lots and lots of fun. Excellent design from the folks at Square, and really good graphics for the PSX.

I'm not a fan, but it is a pretty good game. Download a copy and give it a try befre buying it, anyways it looks much much nicer in epsxe than it ever could on the real hardware.

Who would've thought? Back in the day, my friend insisted I played it, and I was blown away. Imported a copy, probably paid way too much back then, but it was amazing. I'd say go for it, as long as you can appreciate what it was at the time.

Here's another question, in the off chance anyone has played both
Is guardian heroes good enough to forgo einhander and pay the extra cash to get guardian heroes instead?

Well, something of an apples to oranges question, here... I'd argue Guardian Heroes has more replay value and will probably keep you busy longer, and I can say I prefer GH, but I wouldn't go so far as to assert that one is necessarily a better game.

GH has the multiplayer going for it, which is more fun with friends. But I agree, really you can't compare the two. But Einhander simply LOOKED amazing for its time.
