Yes this is true on the sleep thing. I just often pump a lot of time into each game, and do all the side content. So I often take longer beating games.Exhuminator wrote:Preach it brother. I enjoy long in depth games as long as it is fun/good content.
And it's not that I don't enjoy long RPGs, or won't play them. I still beat a couple long RPGs a year. I just prefer RPGs to be 30 hours or less. In my experiences, very few RPGs legitimately fill 40+ hours worth of content in a continuously interesting way. It's usually just a lot of repetitive busy work, padded full of vigorously recycled content. I'd actually like to know some RPGs you guys think last more than 40 hours, and remain fresh and genuinely interesting the whole way through. Maybe you can change my mind.

That's like me then. I go sleep at like 5 am and wake up at 9 am.Exhuminator wrote: Didn't you say you only get 4 hours of sleep a night? Something crazy like that? I can't pull that off. 6 hours a night is barely doing it for me anymore.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I remember i used to be able to sleep 5-6 hours 5 years ago and be good for the rest of the day. But now i will be sleepy and sometimes with a headache if i sleep that short time. Maybe is my messed up sleep cycle i have... sleeping at 5 am and waking up at 11-12 is not good.

It takes like a thousand hours to finish the game completely and get all the shipsXeogred wrote: What was wrong with R-Type Final? I beat that one once awhile back.
Fuck Gradius V. I can't beat it, so freaking hard.
Gradius V is one that, despite its length, I am cool with. Play it about once a year.
No kids on my end, just the missus, but I still tend to heavily prefer games in the 30-60 minute range, even if their difficulty turns them into 100+ hour games.

Same here I tend to be down between 1-2am and up at 6. 4 hours pushes it but I do fine on 5. 8+ gives me a headache.Segata wrote:That's like me then. I'll play a game regardless of the length, but I definitely prefer it when games don't wear out their welcome. 20-30 hours seems like a good sweet spot for an RPG. My general sweet spot, all genres considered, is about 15 hours, I'd say.

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I've definitely become less tolerant of longer games unless they have spectacular quality. I don't even have kids or family as an excuse, I think it's just a function of my getting older, having more on my plate, a shorter attention span, and having played so many similar games through the years. I mean, I hate to say it, but other than some notable exceptions, once you've played one JRPG... well, if you've played through probably 100, you can imagine that it's harder to hold my attention. 20-30 is definitely the sweet spot.
Shorter games, of course, can be lesser quality simply because they don't wear out their welcome. But even then, there are limits to what I can take.

Please teach me how to beat that stupid level in Gradius V that wobbles the entire screen around all the while the entire screen is getting filled up with green ooze.dunpeal2064 wrote:It takes like a thousand hours to finish the game completely and get all the shipsXeogred wrote: What was wrong with R-Type Final? I find Wolfenstein the New order seriously disappointing. I guess, I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.

I have no idea what you were expecting either. A subdued, very grounded FPS campaign? What FPS campaigns do you like that have features you find lacking in New Order?Forlorn Drifter wrote:I find Wolfenstein the New order seriously disappointing.
