I don't let game length cock block me from playing something.

What was wrong with R-Type Final? I beat that one once awhile back.

Fuck Gradius V. I can't beat it, so freaking hard.

I've noticed that tolerance of game length correlates pretty well with marital/kid status.

I still buck that trend. I enjoy long in depth games as long as it is fun/good content.

Yeah, I've got one kid and so I only game in the evenings for an hour or two before bed. A sixty hour campaign is not engrossing in two hour sessions. So I opt out of games that can't be played and enjoyed in short bursts. (Breath of the Wild notwithstanding)

Preach it brother. These single dudes without kids just don't know.

Didn't you say you only get 4 hours of sleep a night? Something crazy like that? I can't pull that off. 6 hours a night is barely doing it for me anymore.

And it's not that I don't enjoy long RPGs, or won't play them. I still beat a couple long RPGs a year. I just prefer RPGs to be 30 hours or less. In my experiences, very few RPGs legitimately fill 40+ hours worth of content in a continuously interesting way. It's usually just a lot of repetitive busy work, padded full of vigorously recycled content. I'd actually like to know some RPGs you guys think last more than 40 hours, and remain fresh and genuinely interesting the whole way through. Maybe you can change my mind.

Game lengths don't bother me.

It's not the length of your game. It's how you use it.

Same here - there are games (not always RPGs) that I put 100+ hours into even in my married-with-kid stage of life. Skyrim, Grim Dawn, and Elite: Dangerous are three recent examples of games that I have WELL over 100 hours in each.

But generally, I agree with you that there are a lot of games that are way longer than they have any business being.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch
