I'm not just talking about valuable or expensive, although those should be included into the convo, but more on the base of those games that are just in such short supply that if you see one in the wild, you need to pick it up.
I would think Fire Pro Returns & Persona 4 WILL fit that bill in a few months, when people who already moved on to 360/Wii/PS3 and have not bothered checking what has been released on PS2 will notice they missed out on some stellar titles.
and while I do not know much about it, I hear Document of Metal Sear Solid is a rare find as well.
I remember going to Game Trade Center, a small store near City Hall in downtown NYC, many years ago and him suggesting Ring of Red to me, that seems like a title that may be in short supply as it was not a majorly hyped release, the guy had good judgment, as he also recommended the original tenchu & Parasite Eve to me as well for Playstation.
So what are those hard to find titles...
What are some of the more Rare PS2 titles?

I'm pretty positive that Persona 4 won't be all that rare. It's got a pretty descent sized following and has sold pretty damned well for an Atlus title. I see Persona 3 or FES all the time, and Persona 4 is actually selling better.scottykick wrote:I'm not just talking about valuable or expensive, although those should be included into the convo, but more on the base of those games that are just in such short supply that if you see one in the wild, you need to pick it up.

I'd say some games that I have difficulty finding anywhere near me are: Digital Devil Saga 2 (the first one isn't all that difficult to obtain), Fatal Frame (First and Third), Robot Alchemic Drive, and Culdcept. Definitely be interested in learning about some other titles I should keep a look out for though.

I would like to know as well. I heard Gitaroo Man is a desirable title. Rez is bound to be rare.

i would say, ico will get harder to find, nocturne 2 disc version is pretty hard to find, jurassic park operation genesis, and .hack quarentine i think will all become pretty hard to find gems
Re: What are some of the more Rare PS2 titles?
The Disgaea games seem to be pretty rare to me. Also pretty much all the Silent Hill PS2 titles are. Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance is also really rare...the one that comes with Metal Gears 1 and 2 if you see it do not let it go! All the Gundam games also seem to be pretty hard to find as well.

Re: What are some of the more Rare PS2 titles?
Disgaea 1 recently made it onto Playstation Greatest Hits, so it's not so hard to find now. The second one is a bit more difficult to find. And Metal Gear Solid can now be bought in a bundled pack with Metal Gear 2 and Metal Gear 3 Subsistence.
As for predictions of what will become rare... I think you will be able to find Persona 4 in the future (although the package with art book and soundtrack will probably be worth something). But Devil Summoner 2 (even though it isn't out yet in the US) is supposedly only going to have a limited release and it just recently got rave reviews on http://www.rpgfan.com for being one of the best RPGs on the playstation 2. Especially having the Raidho plushy doll that comes with a pre-order will be super rare (but it's not too late to pre-order yet.)

I would argue the PAL version of Rule of Rose is pretty tough to find.

er... cuz it was banned, right?
Re: What are some of the more Rare PS2 titles?
You mean Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are the name of the first two games, originally released for MSX2 (Metal Gear was ported to NES and Commodore 64, but the second game wouldn't see a port until 2004). The Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence in that compilation is missing the second disc, which includes the online game and the first two Metal Gear games. The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is the only way to get that, which goes upwards of $100.J T wrote:The second one is a bit more difficult to find.
