I'm gonna be that guy and point out that most GBA games wouldn't have worked on a SNES, most likely, given not only architectual quirks like sprite rotation (which the SNES couldn't do) but also that the GBA had a 32-bit graphics processor while the SNES was 16-bit. Just had to rain on the parade, is all :P

I know, I know. The GBA is technically superior... but realistically not at all in my mind. :P

- Lame sound chip
- Weird color palette that I don't care for
- Most games have a zoomed in look, typical of handhelds making up for screen size

I'm sure there's plenty on the GBA I still need to discover and would love. But yeah outside of sticking to my favorite franchises like Mega Man, Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, etc, there's something about the aesthetics of the GBA that I'll never love so it's never a priority. This is tacked on with my general dislike of handhelds, so it's a double whammy.

GBA has worse sounds than SNES. It was better at voice samples but worse at everything else. Any SNES or Genesis game ported to it sounded like crap in comparison.

The GBA didn't have a dedicated sound CPU, so like the NES, PCE, and N64, all audio had to be mixed and controlled by the CPU. Additionally, the DAC in the GBA is limited to 8-bit output. The GBA is powerful enough to process much higher quality sound, and some games use higher quality samples internally, but the DirectSound pathway reduces everything to 8-bit, max 32 kHz (not that that matters at all with only 8-bit quality).

Also, I think Sonic R is a great racing game. It's not really a kart clone, so you have to play it a little differently, but it is still fun and showcases some of the Saturn's graphical prowess.

I like Sonic R a lot and no it's not a Kart racer but it was obviously their answer on Saturn. Drift was on GG. Sonic R is really bad but really fun. The game has a certain charm in the visuals and of course a good OST. SEGA just knew and still does with Sonic how to make a OST possibly better than the games even the great ones.

I loved Sonic R back in the day. I mastered the controls, despite hating them at first, and 100% completed the game, unlocking Super Sonic.

Mind you, I think it was one of those games I wanted to love that I just forced myself into playing it.

"I Am The Wind" is the nougaty center to Symphony of the Night's smooth chocolate coating, and I hate that modern ports of this game have removed it. For this reason alone, I will always consider the PS1 version, the definitive version.
