It's neither of those.

More hints:

It is indeed a Japanese game.

It is indeed an adventure game.

It has never been available in English officially or unofficially.

It does not have a page on English Wikipedia, it doesn't exist on Giant Bomb, it's not on MobyGames, but it is listed on GameFAQs.

This was a game that sold at retail for a popular Japanese computer.

I'll leave 5 more hints, since I won't be on tomorrow until evening, and this one is pretty tough.

This game is from the early '90s.

Do-Jin magazine did a spread on it.

It's an exclusive to the Japanese PC it was created for.

The company that made this game, only made one other game, and that game too was an exclusive to the same Japanese PC.

The official title of this game consists of three English words, even in Japan.

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't piggyback off of your post. I think we were both looking independently at the same time. Graphically, I could tell it was X68000 or FM Towns.

- This is a standalone game, available on one system.
- The image had to be cropped out of necessity. Many older games display identifying information like game title and/or developer name at all times within a status bar. This is one of them.
- The developer had one game that was localized and released in North America, and two others that were fan translated. The game shown above falls into neither category.
