I was planning in getting a steering wheel or two to play Outrun 2006 and Spy Hunter on Mame and perhaps some two player action on moder games.
However I have no experience with those things and something I'm wondering is how the gear sticks work. Most of them look like have two positions which is fine for SH but seems totally useless for any other racing game. As far as I know games usually have a "gear up" button and a "gear down" button so I fail to see how I can use those gears sticks for playing
Any input?

Re: Confused about gear sticks
the stick shift on most racing wheels is not a position. You flick it up to shift up, and down to shift down. The stick centers after shifting, just like the steering wheel.
also
most racing wheels will have the paddle shifters. They work the same way, one paddle shifts up one gear, the other paddle shifts down.
go into BestBuy and play around with them.
