In an attempt to assist with the definitive list of retro collections, this poll has been created. I'll list the pros and cons of each and we can discuss. I'll update this page as new facts are brought to light
MMAC:
Pros: More games than the Legacy collection (1-8, both arcade mega man games)
Bonuses that include remixed tracks, artwork, the pilot of the Mega Man cartoon, and interviews)
The ability to use shoulder buttons to cycle through weapons on the fly.
Interactive menus
Addition of an easy mode to the first seven games.
Cons:Not 100% accurate to the originals
Less extras than the Legacy collection
Only available on sixth gen consoles (PS2, oXbox, Gamecube)
Gamecube version lacks option to remap button configuration, and the jump and shoot buttons are reversed by default.
Gamecube version has poor sound compared to ps2 and xbox versions
MMLC:
Pros: Accurate emulation
HD visuals
Save States
Both US and Japanese versions included
Better extras (Challenge mode, Box Art, Manual Scans, Enemy data sheets, Concept Art, Music Player)
Widely available on modern platforms (Ps4, Xbone, 3ds)
Cons: Fewer games
Accurate emulation means sprite flicker and slowdown, also no shoulder button to cycle weapons
Although portable, 3ds version has buggy emulation in some titles.

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
Generally I side with accuracy when it comes to emulation, so Legacy wins.
Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
MMLC, maybe only NES stuff, but it worked right, played right, and had those few nice extras and challenges if you were wanting more.
I had the other, sadly on Gamecube, so it's worth noting it was universally crapped on by reviewers because the tools who did the job on the GC version reversed jump+shoot AND removed the primary versions ability to remap the buttons. Basically unless you were new to Mega Man it rendered the game unplayable for most as you can only take running into a death pit shooting off one pellet as a kiss off so many times before you flip out.
Add that to your list of negatives on there and it's just not good.

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
"better" extras is pretty subjective. I think the extras in the Anniv collection are better. I mean, c'mon:

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
Also, I get tired of hearing about the shitty buttons on the Gamecube since I rarely ever play anything but exclusives on that device anyway and it is hard to discount the release itself because of one middling port. Are the bad buttons on one version any more egregious than the problems with Legacy on its poorest version (the 3DS)?
^Those problems seem worse than some button mapping concern.

I'm really tempted to go with the more accurate emulation, but my general rule of thumb is that I go with whichever collection gives more games. I'm REALLY torn on this one, but I'm gonna have to go Anniversary.

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
I thought 5 felt weird when I played it on the 3ds Legacy collection!
And yeah, I've always played the ps2 collection and it's never been any problems for me. I voted anniversary, because as cool as the bonus content on legacy is, well more games is more games you know?

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
Both are egregious, honestly.
So basically, don't pick the Gamecube version of Anniversary (which has less content than the other versions anyway), and don't pick the 3DS version of Legacy, which has emulation issues.

Re: Definitive Mega Man Collection
If it does I don't know about it. I think that's a unique feature to the Disney Afternoon collectionretrosportsgamer wrote:Does Legacy Collection have a rewind button?
