I've played a lot of them, but haven't beaten even half what I played. I adored Arx Fatalis, but didn't beat it, although I got 90% of the way through it back in 2005. I ended up screwing myself over (won't say why as it's a spoiler), and needed to start over. I never finished Ultima Underworld II either, got about halfway through it. It was awesome, but I was in over my head and didn't have good resources (this was around ~1998). I think today I'm a better gamer than I was when I played those, and I could handle them now. I fully plan to beat them both someday.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Text Adventures!

I feel like maybe I ought to play one. Any suggestions for a classic read to win?

I'm thinking I might do a stupid and do 11 games again. I want to put Bonk on my list, and I want to keep MGS Twin Snakes despite it's questionable status, but I might as well also add Blaster Master as it's going on my July Jabberwocky list.

So my final list is:

1. Bionic Commando (NES)
2. Blaster Master (NES)
3. Life Force (NES)
4. Bonk's Revenge (PC Engine)
5. Final Fantasy III (SNES)
6. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PS1)
7. Mario Golf (N64)
8. Pilotwings 64 (N64)
9. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (Gamecube)
10. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Gamecube)
11. Devil May Cry (PS3)

I'll be starting as soon as I finish Marvelous, in order to try and get a head start on having so many games. I think I'll probably go for a few of the easy ones to start - Crash 3, Pilotwings or Prince of Persia probably.

Dungeon Master is tested and good to go! I still need to test Descent 2 and Thief II. I will likely do that this weekend when I install Ultima III.

I would recommend a few games. I suggest, A Mind Forever Foraging, Zork Zero, Planetfall, and the graphical text adventure Spellcasting 101, 201 and 301... although those are not classics.

I thought Planetfall and Zork Zero were highly regarded among text adventure fans.

sorry I meant the spellcasting games weren't classics.

Since I'm most the way through Dark Souls 2 and have some time off coming up, I'm going to bump my list up from three to five.

Legend of Zelda (NES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)
Ninja Gaiden (Xbox if it works, PS3 if not)
Mega Man (Xbox One)
Virtual On (Saturn)

Mega Man is the only game on the Legacy collection I haven't beat and Virtual On is one I've had for yonks but never really put a great deal of time in. Mostly because I think it's a bit janky. That said, I also thought this about Nights and after beating it for this challenge a few years ago, it's become one of my favourite Saturn games.
