What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Nice review. Is there NG+?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
No NG+. It seems like the sort of game to go back to in six months and try a different type of playthrough.

Hmm, I guess Dishonored 2 didn't initially have NG+ and they patched that in, maybe it can still come haha. Seems like it would be hilarious to completely break the game with carried over stats and all.

dicked around with the Prey demo last night for a half hour. It's pretty tough for me to play with a controller, but I wanted to see what it was like. It's actually pretty cool. Those shape-shifting alien things are creepy. When I first broke the glass door and was like "ohh!" The way the opening credits were presented to you in the helicopter. Actually the music seems really good. It's neat though because it is a modern game through and through, but there's this feeling like... I don't know. Like this game could have come out ten years ago, y'know? And that's not an insult. It's interesting. It's not something I'd jump on at full price, but I'm sure I'll keep an eye out for a sale. But on PC of course.

I don't know if you mean that against the visuals or not. There is definitely a sense of minimalism to the art direction, but I really like it and it sinks in the more I play. Since there's loads of some 80's retrowave in the music at times, the world they depict here kind of feels like they were going for a Syd Mead kind of thing and 80's depictions of the future.

It's interesting to wonder how much staff and resources they had to use compared to Dishonored 2. But 10 hours into Prey and I would not call this the "B team" at all, it's incredible stuff.

not at all. I just mean that as a single player FPS there is (at least in the demo) this feeling like this could have been a game out of an earlier time. That Half-Life 2 era I guess. I don't mean it as a compliment or a put-down really. Just more of an observation of a sort of intangible quality I feel like the game has (from my admittedly brief experience).Xeogred wrote:I don't know if you mean that against the visuals or not.

When you guys first started talking about Prey, I was confused, because I thought you all were talking about this:
Does the 2017 Prey have any relation at all to the 2006 one?
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

It is the same IP, not sure what relation it has in the way of story though.Exhuminator wrote:When you guys first started talking about Prey, I was confused, because I thought you all were talking about this:Does the 2017 Prey have any relation at all to the 2006 one?
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
I wonder if there is any kind of connection at all buried deep in the story.

Pretty sure they were going for a reboot if there is a connection it's probably pretty loose.
