I miss when games came with demo discs. Of course if they did have them nowadays, I'd have to install the demo disc and wait on patch files to download. Then I'd spend half the demo going through control tutorials...

Well, that sucks.

Hey all, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but if you wouldn't mind rehashing for me:

1) How do you pronounce the "Chrono" in Chrono Trigger?
2) Do you pronounce the character name "Crono" the same way?

I say them differently -- Crah-no for Chrono (like chronology) and Croh-no for Crono.

What about you guys?

The latter for both.

I pronounce "Chrono" and "Crono" the same way and so does everyone I know in "real life" who has played the game.

To me, the big debate was always the Marle pronunciation. Is it "Marl" or "Mar-lee"? I surely knew the correct answer at some point, but can't recall this moment.

Due to the hard game challenge, I fired up the white whale of gaming last night Robot Odyssey. I ended up playing it for three hours and clearing the first three stages in short order. If I played this as a child, I would not have gotten out of the first area. Hell if I had played this in college, I would not have gotten out of the first stage. Only now, after repairing several 70s pcs, helped a friend build a kit pc, and working on circuits, do I understand how to play this game.

The early stages are simple programs:

Wire the robots up so they can get the objects. But it quickly moves into wiring the robots to do multiple tasks, simultaneously. If you understand logic gates and circuit design, the game will mostly be fighting with its ijkm control scheme. How/Why they thought kids would get this, I have no idea.

Also know that the game uses stupid 80s game logic. Black Items on Black Backgrounds are more common than they should be. And the Apple ][ version does not give you hints - the PC version does.

I use Marl (which turns out to jive with the original JP names).

I say Crah-no for both.

I don't pronounce Crono's name differently because despite the different spelling the time reference is still his namesake.

Regarding Marle, I've always said Marl.

Fast...I admire you playing Robot Odyssey. If I had an EE degree, I would give it a shot, but since I had trouble with a Human Resource Machine, I will let others tackle that one.
