Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I dunno, Ninja Gaiden 1 definitely trolled players with enemy placement and behaviors at times. The later games were a little more fair, but the first title was definitely spiteful.
Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
It really got that way in the last stages, but even that feels a bit more fair than TMNT. You're right, it's spiteful, but it's a spiteful you can account for.
Really, it's that hallway before Shredder in TMNT that really just makes me go, "That's bad design." It's just un-fun, crazy difficult, and really requires you to cheese it with Scrolls or play remarkably cautiously, and things can still go south.
I guess it's more density of spitefulness.

I think this phrase deserves some kind of place in the video game critics encyclopedia. It's not about whether your game does something spiteful. It's more about the density of its spitefulness.Sarge wrote:I guess it's more density of spitefulness.

Yeah, just because tmnt controls well doesn't mean it's not a bad game. Actually, I find the jump physics wonky, but then there's the imbalance in usefulness of the turtles (only 1 is really worth using), malicious and tedious level design, enemies who to way too much damage, pointless dead ends and instant kill bullshit. I've beat it and I hate it.
It is pretty hard though. Could work for a jabberwocky challenge game for someone

I find most Fps multiplayer games to be a cesspool of idiocy and selfishness. Accurately representing our journey to achieve the highest rank and or k/d ratio-which in turn for me ends up being an empty expierence every time i play. But for whatever reason i just keep playing..its sort of like self-mutalation.

I agree with that observation except that it's exactly WHY I don't play much. I do play online FPS on occasion, but it's only just to scratch that itch. I never feel any need to get to that next rank or hit prestige or whatever else.Speedy-Mcspeedz wrote:I find most Fps multiplayer games to be a cesspool of idiocy and selfishness. Well im starting to get away from it all together. Part of the reason why i joined this forum. Unfortunally it only takes one invite to drag me back in. I take back self-mutilation, its more like a Heroin addiction.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I agree with that observation except that it's exactly WHY I don't play much. The complaints there, why I don't bother with FPS online anymore. The fun is long gone sucked up by people who consider themselves big time gamers because all they ever do is focus hours a day into just being amazing at Call of Duty/MoH/Halo, and equally so the bloated egos of those types or just try hards who are spiteful mouthpieces. If I bother I usually middle things, not bad, not the leader, but I get tired of the behavior and the communication. Sucks the fun out entirely, throw in the prestige and other garbage and it's a total why bother situation as I'll never have those perks others do from having no life other than playing one game.
Want unpopular? I buy FPS games for the campaign...exclusively. I'm looking at CoD WW2 coming out later in the year, curious to see if they turd that one up horribly or make a meaty fun meaningful respectful style campaign that fits that war like World at War (outside of some odd music choices) did.

Titanfall 2 was the last I played online a bit for a good month or few last year and it was glorious. I don't think most people on consoles bother with mics anymore and that's for the best. I really have no complaints and didn't notice any of the annoyances from the mid 2000's when I was playing Halo 4 or Reach, CoD4, and MW2.

You guys should get more into the world of FPS co-op games. Trust me, if you have a few friends willing to learn and play the game with you, it immediately improves the experience.
