I am very good at games, yes I'm going to flex for a second here. But that's in a PvE sense if you will. No matter what the genre, AI tend to have sets of patterns, so you can almost mathematically figure things out in your head in how to handle situations after awhile.
But this is all thrown out the window with human players.
I did win a SFII tournament back at my high school for a $50 Best Buy gift card though.

I've played a lot of fighting games growing up and my friends and I have been into it a fair bit lately again these past few years. I wasn't big on SFIV though. But Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat X, Guilty Gear Xrd, SFV, those JoJo fighters, and some others here and there in between have been fun. We're all really excited for Tekken 7. Tekken 3 and Tag was my shit and probably the best and most serious I ever got into a fighting game, had some legendary matches back in the day with my friends. I liked Soul Caliber 2 a lot as well.
I'm probably like a B- at fighting games or something. Middle of the pack but better than the average player. Luckily I'm very evenly matched with one of my good friends so we always go all out. But then there's that one friend, who starts speaking alien languages about i-frames and how any and all game specific mechanics work, this and that, and destroys me.
It's not very fun to repeatedly lose.
No idea what I'd do in Ex's shoes, lol. She won't get better if you hold back, but she also might lose interest if you go too far. Sounds like thin ice.
