You're talking about that damn black phantom mindflayer aren't you? That bastard killed me too. I haven't been back yet because I'm still sore over that.

---

Well I took everyone's advice about freeing Biorr for the Penetrator fight. Wow. That fight went from being rage inducing hard to absolute piece of cake. I just arrowed Penetrator to death while he stayed busy attacking Biorr.

After that, I went to 5-2. OMFG what a horrible, terrible, despicable stage.

"Yes, let's have a humongous swamp that they can't roll in. That also poisons them when they walk in it. We'll be sure to liberally pepper the area with item drops, so they're inclined to get poisoned often. Also let's make it so dark and rainy that they can't see anything more than 5 feet in front of their face. Now, let's add some huge trolls that can move through the swamp mud like it's air, meanwhile they shall stick like glue. They can enjoy having their face bashed in. Oh, I know! Assloads of poisonous jellyfish to poison them while they're being poisoned. Don't forget acid spewing leeches, those are great. Just for kicks, let's throw in some TROLLOLOLO GIANT MOSQUITOES to bug the living hell out of them, while they're mobbed by flaming spear wielding plague-zombies. Anything else guys? Oh! And lastly, make the necessary parts of the stage very high up in the air plank-walks, which they will be knocked off of, and have to slowly drudge themselves all the way back up to, over and over. Yes guys, 5-2 is PERFECTION! PS Don't forget a meat cleaver wielding hyper fast black phantom to wander the swamp floor."

I really hope there aren't any more areas like 5-2 in the rest of the Souls series.

Oh, bless you.

I've started up DS3 with my strength/faith Cleric build. It's going okay so far. Beaten Treeballs who I thought was a pretty interesting fight, if a little easy. Trying to ween myself off using a shield and going in two handed which is having mixed results but is still fun. And although Iudex Gundyr was a pretty nasty "tutorial" boss the game seems more forgiving than Demon's already. 4 ring slots, no health penalty on death, weapon repairs at bonfires, etc. As long as the bosses and areas stay tough I think it'll even out.

I also beat Not a Hero which was great...ish. It's like a super-fast, hyper violent Bonaza Bros but it's quite short and the final mission sucks the fat one. Still, well worth the £2 it cost me.

Was thinking about this gem lately. Dove in and I instantly realized it's probably one of those, best left in the past kind of games haha. Grew up loving it. It was one of those weird games my aunt had, among a few others. So I played it a lot there. I think I beat it. For a weird mascot game, it's pretty cool. But I forgot it's a bit of a collectathon, you have to get a certain amount of bottle caps and items throughout the levels to progress and it's a bit of a strange cluster. Not sure I'll beat it again, but it was fun to dabble into. Tommy Tallarico did the music .

I remember digging the isometric sequel, Spot Goes to Hollywood. I'll check that out again soon.
CoolSpot reminds me an awful lot of Vectorman.

I hate Vectorman.

I didn't mind 5-2 either. I know that PoPo hates it, though. The 5-2 boss is very easy; so, you have that to look forward to.

I don't love it myself. Never made it that far. Graphically it's just a giant clusterfuck. I've heard it compared to DKC, which is laughable.

I've never been able to get into Vectorman 1 or 2. I think the games are technically impressive sure, but from a "fun factor" angle... didn't do much for me.

Except it does have a lot in common with DKC.

Only in how the graphics were drawn. It doesn't actually look, sound or play much like DKC at all.

I actually like Vectorman quite a bit, but I would given its somewhat Contra-style gameplay.
