What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

So it's about a librarian...named Evan...who gives up the job for eternal life and releases demons from Hell...

Now where have I heard this one before?

Sadly, it's too slow and the scenes that make it all worth it are too few and far between.

I've seen this before on a beat-up VHS from a local video rental place and was not impressed.

Sorry to go OT, but I got it from Ocean Atlantic Rentals, who, in the early 2000s and possibly late '90s, on had a wider selection of old VHS tapes than Village Video did, though OAR eventually sold their old VHS tapes sometime after Village Video did when they both abandoned VHS rentals. It should be noted that Village Video only lasted up until 2011 iirc, less than 3-5 years after abandoning VHS rentals, though OAR is still around but I haven't been in there in years and they probably abandoned movie and game rentals, the latter only extended to a few PS2 and Xbox games. Of course, unlike Village Video, OAR mainly did more than just movie and game rentals, focusing on beach equipment (i.e. sun umbrellas, chairs) and stuff for parties like tables and such. They also did windsurfing equipment.

Sorry to go on a tangent.

And speaking of movies I used to see in video stores in the '90s and onward, I just finished:

In an ever-shrinking fat suit, Robert John Burke (Robocop 3, Gossip Girl, Law and Order SVU) plays a morbidly-obese lawyer who gets cursed by an elderly Gypsy man (yes, I'm pretty sure the PC term nowadays is Romani, but I may be mistaken).

He begins to shed pounds at an alarming rate and seeks an end to the curse.

It's a Stephen King film (King even cameos as a pharmacist), based on one of his novels (written by his former pseudonym Richard Bachman) and NOT a film made by the author.

Alien is such an awesome and influential film, I think if it was faster you would lose a lot of the suspense elements.

Did you watch a BluRay version REPO? For 1979, Alien is completely insane. It is a bit of a glorified, serious slasher film in a sense, but I think it's remarkable from a technical standpoint and still one of my favorites. In the dark and with headphones makes it an awesome experience.

I'm gonna echo the above sentiments on Alien. As a sci-fi film its one of the best, as a monster/slasher film it's one of the best. As a sci-fi slasher, there are none better.

Alien is one of the best monster movies ever made. Its influence cannot be overstated.

^ I look at it differently.

Alien is a horror film. The film that inspired Metroid series. Alone and full of dread and atmosphere. One of the best ever. It's the best in the series trying to be a horror film.

Aliens is Sci Fi Action. It's a fantastic film. Ripley always had company. She has a lot of fire power. She even has a mech fight! It's full of awesome action! Best in the series at that!

Alien 3 tried to be more horror but sucked. AR tried to be more action again and sucked.
========================================

Anyway just watched another Horror Anthology.
V/H/S Viral. Never been impressed with this series and this one is the worst. It's dull. Magic demon magicians cloak that needs blooooooood to work...yeah lame. Rest were dull but the Dante one is so stupid.
