What are you playing?
Re: What are you playing?
By "burrowing lizard people" you mean those miners? Not the actual fire salamanders or anything?
I think no matter what, those goons just take forever to kill even with excellent weapons. Then you get like nothing in return. They suck haha. They're not too aggressive though so you can generally probably run past them, but then if there's a fat wizard around the corner or some dogs and a mob they can be a nuisance.

Yeah the miners. They're just damage sponges really.Xeogred wrote:By "burrowing lizard people" you mean those miners?

Turns out arrows are extremely effective against them.Exhuminator wrote:Yeah the miners. They're just damage sponges really.

Tonight I managed to clear 2-1, only took me two tries on the boss. I also made it to the boss of 3-1, but died miserably. The best thing I managed to find was the regeneration ring, pretty big deal in tandem with the heal spell.

I'm playing Mercs on Mega Drive.
Ever find one of those games that are not actually bad per se, so you don't wanna get rid of them, but you just don't see yourself playing often or spending the time to finish them? That's Mercs for me.
I'm thinking I might just sell this one on tbh. Someone out there will probably get more satisfaction from this then I will with it collecting dust on my shelf. Every time I play it I think 'I could be playing Shock Troopers right now...'
I'm playing Mercs as I've been on a Mega Drive kick. Beaten Bare Knuckle 3, World of Illusion, Alisia Dragoon, Shinobi III and Dynamite Headdy over the last week. Keep an eye on the Games Beaten thread for reviews of the latter 3.
Y'know, maybe I will play some Shock Troopers right now.

Mercs is okay. I've only played the arcade version. And yeah, Shock Troopers basically kills all other top-down run & guns.
I haven't finished a single Genesis game this year. I always find Genesis games to be tough, generally speaking. Both by design and because I struggle a bit with the controller. Alisia Dragoon? I've barely made a dent in that one.

Huh. I actually feel like that about the game. It's not bad at all but I don't see myself devoting any time to it over other shooters.alienjesus wrote:I'm playing Mercs on Mega Drive.

Yeah. To be honest, I feel if you could just dodge and/or strafe whilst shooting I could get on board with it, but as it is it's just tedious to play when you're constantly fidgeting your guy around all directions to shoot as you're trying to progress. Being able to lock firing in one direction whilst moving in another would be a god send, and a dodge ability would make it feel a lot more in-depth too.Erik_Twice wrote:Huh. Champions of Krynn, DOS version, in Magic DosBox on my Nexus 7 Android tablet. Using a Bluetooth keyboard because you need number keys to reliably do diagonals. Even if you "cheat" using Modify to max out your stats, this game is super challenging in the early levels. Still, lots of fun so far.

Nearing the end of Yakuza 2 and the twists just keep on coming. Every time I feel like I'm burning myself out on sidequests, I get to a story point that makes me go "WHAAAAAAAT!?!?"
One of my favorite things about Yakuza is how appropriately other characters act towards how terrifyingly powerful a human being Kiryuu Kazuma is. They literally call him a "monster!!" (化モン!) Like when he fights 15 other guys all at once, or when he fights TWO Siberian Tigers at once with only his fists XD
