Hello All!
This is my first post on this forum, so i just wanted to introduce myself!
Now for the real post...
I just picked up an agetec dreamcast arcade stick for 25 bucks, which I felt was a pretty good deal.
Now, that I have played with it for a bit, it seems that the buttons seem to stick a bit, and the stick is not as responsive as I wanted it to be.
My question is this, Should I take it apart and try to clean the buttons as well as the stick? Or is there a good chance i might screw it up.
I have modded things in the past, so i am not to worried, I just didn't want to pull this thing apart and damage something without realizing.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Agetec dc arcade stick question
not really much you can do to "clean" the buttons, as they themselves don't really come apart. the joystick might be cleanable to some extent but I don't like much removing the retaining clip on a joystick. at that point you've got to keep your ducks in a row.
putting in arcade quality buttons isn't too hard but does involve at the minimum a dremmel with a grinder bit. If you'd rather not go that route, I've got some extra agetec buttons laying around that i pulled from good condition adult owned sticks, i'll let them go really cheap if you need.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.

Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.
Re: Agetec dc arcade stick question
i think i know what you mean by sticking buttons. One of my agetec's suffers from this as well.
If the button is merely getting stuck by friction, then use just a slight amount of lithium grease. Works well for plastic on plastic. When i say slight, i mean very slight. i use a paint brush for this.
If it's physically getting stuck down , then taking it apart is probably a better option. The unit does come apart without much fuss, and as long as you dont yoink any of the solder points out, you should be fine.
It's only $25, so go ahead and dig in there. Gotta learn somewhere. If you can solder very well, there is a great solution to your issue now called Wire Glue. http://www.wireglue.us/ As long as you can glue, you can solder now.
