I'm just gonna resell my American copy of 3. No real use for it, and it'll help pay for the ones I just bought because the American copies are a lot rarer

Re: Games Acquired 2017
Ordered Japanese versions of Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 off of eBay the other day. The tons of talking, Japanese subtitles with lots of kanji, and relatively idiot-proof gameplay/story progression make it VERY ideal for studying. I've already learned a few new kanji down-pat playing through the ones I have so far

Embarrassed to say that 1) I didn't own this until now and 2) it took me this long to get my first Atari game of 2017.

Hold up now, the Sears Tele-Games variant is the only version of the game? What is this madness?!

Damn straight!
Are you familiar with Atari? Many games can be altered slightly by flicking switches on the console - difficulty may go up a smidge, the colors change, a boat turns into a plane, whatever. Developers really ran with this idea, claiming their games contained "100 variants" and other such grandiose things. It's pretty hilarious.
Space Invaders: 112 variants!
I love how the Steeplechase box doesn't even mention the console.

Snagged Journey for PS3 yesterday for $9.
Got in the steelbook versions of Jotun, Guacamelee, Rogue Legacy, and Stories: Path of Destinies from GameStop yesterday as well. Looking forward to giving Stories a go in particular.

Re: Games Acquired 2017
I completely assumed you played 3D Dot Heroes because you always corrected everyone on that.
I just heard a good argument about that one today on a podcast or somewhere, it's an awesome homage, not a ripoff or anything. It's great. I actually never beat it though, it gets pretty fucking hard with some of the later boss battles.
In ways I think it is a little flawed by sticking so close to Zelda 1 for the dungeon level designs, because the overworld feels a bit more like Link's Awakening or Link to the Past in some spots. But I don't recall the dungeons ever getting nearly that advanced or different.
I think I Gamefly'd it. Been meaning to buy a copy.
