I played a little PicDun, but I played a lot more of its sequel. Picdun 2: Witch's Curse is just superior. I still haven't finished Picdun 2, but plan to eventually. The central game mechanic of uncovering a picture as you explore the dungeon is cool in both games though.prfsnl_gmr wrote:I am about half way through PicDun. Has anyone else played it? I thought I was going to be at the point right before the last boss last night as well, but then in game things happened. I could definitely finish the game tonight, question becomes if I can do so while also filling the compendium.ElkinFencer10 wrote:MrPopo wrote:Stupid Elkin taking advantage of me losing two nights to classes.I thought you were going to finish it last night.

Is this game still available??? I remember looking for it awhile ago but could only find the sequel. Is DSiWare stuff being delisted?prfsnl_gmr wrote:I decided to play through some DSiWare games while I was on vacation. I got through a few of them, and I think I am about half way through PicDun. I'm not even stressing about S Links let alone the compendium.MrPopo wrote:I thought I was going to be at the point right before the last boss last night as well, but then in game things happened. Since the last time jump, I've just been using the most orthodox party config (without Sancho or Pipin). Unless something drastic happens, I'll probably take them with me to the final battle. Before the time skip, I was using a BIg Eye, and training up a Mesala because it's a super beef-cake. Its stats almost feel like cheating, though, and I got tired of the game forcing it into the fourth spot (from the second) behind the other two human characters. It's easier just to have Borongo there, and be done with it.PartridgeSenpai wrote:I'll definitely be interested to see what your final party layout is
I forgot the name of it, but I recruited two of the hulking, horned, bearded, demons (a little like the Mesala) that can cast Bagicross. Part of me wants to see how ridiculous those would get at higher levels, but I don't really want to invest the time, at this point.
Well, that's out.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Makai Hakkenden Shada is heavy influenced by the first Ys. I'm being too generous actually, it outright rips it off. There are some very bizarre design choices (like an insta-death a few minutes into the game if you happen to lack a certain item) but it's only a few hours long and marginally entertaining and fun.
I liked the first one. It took some classy pot shots at the genre, and felt like a really smooth, brisk, funny, late '80s RPG. I'd be expecting/hoping for more of the same. It's not considerably longer than the first game, is it?BoneSnapDeez wrote:Eiyuu Densetsu II is just like the first game. Same graphical style, battle system, and so on. My biggest issue is that it's way too effing long for such a "generic" straightforward title. (I haven't played it on the Mega Drive but I imagine it's pretty similar to the Super Famicom and PCE variants).
The Mega Drive versions do a lot to make the games feel more at home on consoles, rather than straight PC ports. Some animation (backgrounds) are still a little jerky, but they're probably the most faithful, and best looking versions not on PC. At least for the first one, anyway. I think the sequel was placed in better hands on the SNES, but I'm more interested in the versions that were came out of a joint development house created by Sega and Falcom, regardless.

Re: RPG Progress Report
IIRC, as it's been a while since I played, I never really found anyone who I liked better in a party of 4 than Hero and those two kids you can recruit. Then I just had a slime knight from like the very beginning of the game, because he was just so high level (and had good healing spells) that training up anything else kinda felt like a waste of time.pierrot wrote:Since the last time jump, I've just been using the most orthodox party config (without Sancho or Pipin). Re: RPG Progress Report
Finished Persona 5 last night. Holy fuck, that's a long ass game. I clocked in at just over 109 hours. Even with the time I spent paused for shit breaks or fell asleep with the controller in my hand, that's still probably 104 or 105 hours. Only longer game I've played was Persona 3 FES.

Was that with a bunch of optional stuff too, or just the main story?ElkinFencer10 wrote:Finished Persona 5 last night. Holy fuck, that's a long ass game. I clocked in at just over 109 hours. I hit 130 hours in Xenoblade Chronicles but I did basically everything in that. Otherwise the longest game I've beaten but not done everything in was probably something like Persona 4 at 80 or so.

Re: RPG Progress Report
I almost never go full completionist. Excluding Pokemon where I did LOTS of random training and battles after finishing the main story, Persona 5 still clocks in at my longest IIRC. I usually do some side things in games but rarely ever all.
