Is this worth anything? (Saturn Virtua Cop pack)

Post by Paul_B-C »

I found this at my local op shop for, as you can see, $7. It has a Sega Stunner and the Virtua Cop manual inside, though not the game itself. I'm not 100% on whether it works or not, as I don't have a Saturn, but seeing as the holding part inside for the gun has been kept, I assume the gun itself is in good condition.

I don't think itd be worth it, especially if you don't have a Saturn in the first place, and no way to test it, and no game inside. Plus if you have a LCD tv it wont work.

Loose stunner guns fetch $20 on eBay. Since yours is boxed, it's probably worth a little more. $7 for that is nothing short of a steal.

Virtua Cop is one of the least exciting light gun games for the Saturn, I'm afraid to say. I'd order them like this, in order of fun:
1) Virtua Cop II
2) House of the Dead
3) Virtua Cop I

Another thing a lot of people don't seem to talk about is that the Stunner is really worth more as a novelty/collectible thingy than a gameplay enhancer. I've played the aforementioned Saturn lightgun games a lot and I can nail bad guys much easier with a D-pad. The stunner just makes you feel cool while you're holding it (unlike the 3D pad which actually makes certain games easier to play.)

Over here in the land of the rising sun, the guns can be had for 100yen(US$1) each. They're common. Even the boxed Virtua Cop sets go for 200-500yen here.
