Yeah, it's Vanquish. That game's only the greatest TPS of the seventh generation. No big deal.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: What are you playing?
That probably is what I'll hit up. I figure I can finish it off over the weekend.

Aw, feck. Y'all keep remindin' me I gotta get back on Vanquish. I keep forgetting about that one when I scan the FPS and TPS games I own but haven't beaten yet. Perhaps that will be after Yakuza 2 along with Goldeneye (finally).Exhuminator wrote:Yeah, it's Vanquish. That game's only the greatest TPS of the seventh generation. No big deal.

It's a fun quick romp, just like Metal Gear Rising as well (you could easily argue it's like these two are set in the same world, rather than Rising being in the MGS world haha).
I remember the Vanquish demo wasn't too hot. Even some of my friends confirmed similar feelings when I finally played the game awhile back and was hyping it up to them. It had one of the more boring boss battles in there where you can mainly just stand behind cover on some ledge... though I heard later that you can actually go down some ramp to get around the boss.
But outside of that demo boss battle and area it's just insane. The game has some of the most insane boss battles ever for its genre and some hilarious cinema like cameos perhaps, the last boss comes to mind... and the ending is downright hilarious. Platinum's "Evil America" stuff in this and MG Rising was just too funny.
It's a Mikami game so you know what to expect. S+.
And for something similar if you guys want a recommendation, hit up Binary Domain (I think PartridgeSenpai played that just recently). It's by the Yakuza devs and has the same kind of awesome humor/serious storytelling. Lots of cool robot enemies and boss battles. It was just freaking fun feel good stuff. By far my two favorite no frills third person shooters last gen.

Man, I hated the ending of MGS: Revengeance. I know it was meant to be over the top, but I'm pretty sure my eyes were rolling so hard I could see my brain or something.

Re: What are you playing?
Binary Domain is another fantastic shooter from last gen you can get for 5 bucks or less really easy. The voice-gimmick is really weird and annoying, but as long as you ignore it (or maybe it's the most fun thing in the world to you), it's a standard shooter. One of the things I love the best about it is how COOL the robots look. You can literally shoot off pieces of them, and as if the animation and graphics on that didn't look cool enough, they'll adapt their fighting style to their new lack of limb(s). Story is pretty cool too, and the tone is very Yakuza, so if you like those games, you will almost definitely like Binary Domain.Xeogred wrote:And for something similar if you guys want a recommendation, hit up Binary Domain (I think PartridgeSenpai played that just recently). Re: What are you playing?
Been playin DmC and im actually liking it quite a bit, the characters and story are meh but the game itself is really fun. I still see why theres people who hate it though. Maybe i enjoy it more than the other DMC games? Maybe because im more in a mood for simple pick up and play kind of games, witch it would explain why im playing my snes more lately.

DmC was fun, but you're right, the story and characters are "meh". Too much "we're trying too hard" in there. The most embarrassing sequence was basically Dante and a boss going, "F*** you!", "No, f*** you!", back and forth. It was ridiculous.
Re: What are you playing?
During that scene i remembered that someone from Ninja Theory said "This new Dante will be a modern type of cool"... well if they wanted to target 13 year olds they nailed it.Sarge wrote:DmC was fun, but you're right, the story and characters are "meh".
