The Elder Scrolls Online is free this week

Post by noiseredux »

as the thread title states. TES Online is free for a week starting today. This goes for consoles and PC, although my understanding is that there is no crossplay. I'm planning to download and play tonight, as this is a game I've been tempted by for a while (and actually was planning to buy for the launch of the Morrowind expansion coming soon), so a demo week is perfect for me.

If anyone else gives an F and wants to play this game w/ me this week, lemme know.

I would play, since I actually own it, but it couldn't be the worst possible time right now. Working all week on birthday parties for my daughter and the ever present job hunt has stunted my free time exponentially.

just to elaborate for those that do not own the game - Elder Scrolls Online is FREE TO DOWNLOAD this week. It has been free to play for a while now (IE: No subscription is required anymore). But this week is a totally free demo.

But then if you like it, you still have to buy the software to keep playing, right?

that is how free trials generally work, yes.

Base game is on sale for $10 this week if you find yourself in such a scenario.

Yes. Now... when I first played the game in beta, I despised it. Having quest dungeons be open to all players made it insanely easy to complete quests because a boss fight only requires you to hit it once to say you fought it. It spawns, you hit it, 20 other people killed it, quest complete. It bothered the he'll out if me.

That is still a thing, but if you just imagine those other people don't exist and play it like a single player game... it is an easier pill to swallow. It is an elder scrolls game with mmo mechanics....and just wash away those other players and focus on you and your friends. You have to consciously make the game an intimate experience as the rampant political debates and screaming in chat are unending and relentless.

I played an hour last night and liked what I saw. If there was ever a series that might actually convince me to play an MMO, it'd be Elder Scrolls.

a wood elf. Class is um... the first one, which sounded the most fightin'-like.

I generally just try to make the same character in every wRPG that I've played in the last few years. She started in Dragon Age Origins, and has continued on through Pillars Of Eternity, Skyrim, and so on.
