Pilotwings Resort
I put about two hours into this last night, I'm already at the Platinum level missions. I'm not going to keep playing. This isn't really a game you can beat, say in the same way you could beat the original Pilotwings. It looks like the only official way to "beat" Resort would be to get three stars on every single mission in every single class... a daunting and not particularly rewarding goal.
It's a shame Resort is designed like this. The original Pilotwings on SNES is one of my favorite games on that platform. It had a leaner mission structure ending with special ops missions in both campaigns (and a stellar OST). Alas the N64 sequel was junk (IMO) and this 3DS version isn't much better. I was faintly hoping Resort would be a return to form, but no such luck. The 3D effect is well done here, controls work fine, but the mission designs are dull, and the music is just terrible. Oh well.

I really should clarify: you can still do this. Can't remember exactly, but there are sliders or a separate mode that enable this. I was just speaking about playing the game as it was intended/the way that most people would play it by and large.noiseredux wrote:this is exactly what has stopped me from playing this. It was on my radar when Rift support was announced but alas it's not the game I want it to be. I want to just swim around and explore. I do not want to mine or craft or survive.Snatch1414 wrote:Subnautica ... the damn survival aspects get in the way.
Basically I want Abzu to have VR support, I guess.

started up Rainbow Six Siege. Briefly. Very briefly. I get the feeling that I am not going to like this. Super slow methodical FPS w/ sneaking around... it feels like the kind of game that makes me more anxious than it does cause me to have fun.

Play Rainbow Six Rogue Spear on the GBA, it is far more your style.

It is a tactical FPS. Need to use sound as such. I wouldn't say all slow methodical and sneaking. Sure that is there sometimes, but there are times for stealth and times for all out assault. I do tons of running around, blowing holes in walls and such.

Re: What are you playing?
I started up the PS3 remake of Yakuza 1 tonight and that game is freaking craaaaazy sauce. It's a port of a PS2 game, so the pre-recorded cutscenes look like absolute ass, but the in game ones look fantastic. The whole game has very nicely redone HD textures, and the voice acting and atmosphere are freaking fantastic. I'm also getting some SUPER Binary Domain vibes from the combat so far, which I'm digging SO much (head-slamming people into desks and smashing them in the head with chairs just does not get old ever). It's all in Japanese, so I can't understand quite everything exactly, but I get more than enough of what's going on. It's very good reading and listening practice one way or the other
Big thanks to whoever pointed it out to me that they were done by more or less the same people (I think it was Alienjesus, but it was a while ago so I could be wrong about that).

Yeah, the epic Binary Domain is by the same devs. It's so easy to see with those down time in between moments in Binary Domain where you can walk around little markets and talk to people... those parts are like straight out of Yakuza. And the humor/seriousness is similar and awesome.
You know a Yakuza 1 remake is hitting the PS4 and US this summer right?
