She's "Erumaana," which I would personally romanize as "Elmarna," but I'm not sure what the DS translation calls it. I could see how someone who can read a lot faster and doesn't treasure hunt so pedantically would consider the 11-ish hour spot I'm at as "early on" though X3MrPopo wrote:What's the name of the punch chick? I remember getting her relatively early on and switched to using her as my primary controlled character full time.

Well, narratively it's early on. And I think you're right, the fan translation was something like Elmaria.

Beat Pokemon Sun and didn't want to start another 3DS game and because my PS4 controller is being repaired i ended up playing Tactic Ogre on the PSP. 2 hours into it and so far it's alright. The RNG can be annoying and i definitely have to check out a guide for this game because there's so many skills and classes even at the beginning and i have to see whether i should invest on special characters as much as possible. These sort of games usually have the problem that the normal units tend to become shit compared to non generic NPCs

The special characters are better, but well tended normal units are still effective. It isn't as bad as FFT and such.Kuruwin wrote:Beat Pokemon Sun and didn't want to start another 3DS game and because my PS4 controller is being repaired i ended up playing Tactic Ogre on the PSP. 2 hours into it and so far it's alright. SO much reading in Tales of Innocence. There was seriously just like a chain of 10 of them. My last few play sessions (of about an hour at a time, give or take) have literally just been reading. I definitely wouldn't be complaining if it weren't in Japanese, but either way it's certainly good reading practice for me

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
Haven't been playing a whole lot lately (just been so tired wah), but I have been making my way through Nier: Automata.
It's somewhat been going alright. Combat is definitely a lot better than the original. Very fast and flashy is the best way to describe it I think ha. Not really liking the characters and story as much as the original though. The original had some points which completely changed how I viewed past events in the story, but Automata hasn't really hit that for me yet. Also not as much funny character banter as the original, but there is some there at least.
Right now I've just gotten the Ending C (the third of the five main endings), which was a HUGE pain to get. After getting Endings A & B (basically play through the game twice, once from 2B's perspective, and once from 9S's), if you load your save you can play through the game to get endings C & D (which continues the story from A & B). Up until that point, I had been having a good time and was breezing though the combat, as I was playing on Easy. However, once I started the game to get C & D, it started off with a ton of enemies that were all suddenly 15-20 levels higher than me. Luckily I managed to stay alive until I had a good chance to level up a bit, but that intro was the WORST. I was very close to just quitting right there though. I don't mind if there is a bit of a difficulty spike, but this was just insane.
Thankfully I don't have to go though that again (at least I think so since I unlocked a chapter select), but that section was definitely not at all enjoyable.

Yep, sounds like a Platinum game. Apparently it's selling pretty well, which is definitely good for them. I've said before that Platinum is basically a one-trick pony, but it's a pretty darn awesome trick!laurenhiya21 wrote:Combat is definitely a lot better than the original. I still have a hard time even labeling it as a Platinum game, because Yoko Taro. I guess the mechanics are probably there, but I bet everything else about the game is an entirely different beast and more serious than the silly stuff Platinum has been known for (a lot of which I still love!)
There was nothing really wrong with the combat in the first game, some people make it sound unplayable or it keeps others from trying it out. It's not the standout element of the game, but it's definitely serviceable. The demo for Automata was amazing though and Platinum has definitely upgraded the gameplay a lot, so the whole package sounds amazing.
I think I might go for it next since it sounds a little shorter than all these other top notch games coming out right now that sound super long. I've heard you can get most of the main endings in 30-4 hours. Which is still long, but not Breath of the Wild long.

Revisiting this. It's been ages. First time playing it on an actual cartridge, actually. I dig it.
