All of downtown LA and the rest of the city is doing it. Even street lights. There will be a satellite image to show how dark the planet gets.
Nice....does that mean the fire trucks will light the city when everyone riots, flips the cars, and starts barn fires?
this reminds me of those protests where people would rally everyone into not buying gas for one day to make the oil companies lower prices... ssoo everyone just made sure to buy even more gas the day before or the day after. flyers game tonight so the lights stay on... i bet ill go on to use google within that hour and they will be up and running.
I went out and drove pointlessly in my car for earth hour making sure I was revving the arse off it just to waste a bit more fuel than I have to. While I was out I left all the lights on and I ran over a cat on the way back.

Destroying the planet? The planet's going to be fine. Sure, we'll kill off a few more species, but if the planet survived the catastrophe that killed off the dinosaurs it can survive us.

dont get me wrong... i love the planet and hate the things we are doing to it... i just dont see how 1 hour is going to help in the long run... i know it saves a lot of energy during that hour, but then its just back to normal for everyone... yet they feel good about themselves because they turned their lights off for an hour. once this hour is over and everyone goes back to normal, it doesnt matter how much energy was saved... now if we did it every day!! that would be something... i wonder how many of these weekend energy saving warriors would still stick with the cause... im not trying to insult anyone... i admire everyone who is taking part, but its not meant to save us from feeling guilty, its meant to inspire us to do more every day... or at least more than once a year.
Well I spent my night playing GTA Chinatown in the dark. Love those bright DSLite screens We're not ready yet for a mainstream fundamentalist green ideology, but a post-apocalyptic world is a certainty given our insatiable greed and carelessness. Maybe at around 2050.
